Former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush named Mitt Romney as their favorite Republican for the 2012 presidential nomination.
"If you asked me, who was the nominee be, I couldn't tell you. We like Mitt Romney. We know him well and like him very much," Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry King.
The former president then joked about his support, saying: "Don't want to kill him off."
"He's a reasonable guy. A conservative fellow, which is good. But, no, I think he'd be a good president, a very good president," Bush said of the former Massachusetts governor.
The former first lady echoed Bush's words when she was asked her favorite.
"I'll go with George. Mitt Romney. I like a lot of them. But I like people who feel that you can respect other people's ideas. I like that a lot," Barbara Bush said.
The Bushes were asked if their son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, was thinking about a presidential run.
"I don't think he is. In fact, I know he's not. But, would he be a good president? Absolutely. Don't just take that from a father prejudice view. I mean, he's a good man. He performed as governor. He's well spoken. He is not an extremist. He's not a wild guy that attributes bad motives to those that disagree with him, and he's good. And people that know him and hear him say the same thing. So, I think the bottom line is he just doesn't want to try, doesn't want to do it," the former president said.
The interview aired Monday night on "Larry King Live." It got attention over the weekend when CNN previewed it, airing a clip that featured Barbara Bush saying she hoped former Gov. Sarah Palin stayed in Alaska.
"I sat next to her once, thought she was beautiful," the former first lady said. "And I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
Yup. What a surprise! LOL
Good friends do not necessarily make good presidents.
Remember that Dems gained in both houses under Bush. His left wing policies turned off conservatives and independents.
Sarah, not Mitt owns that constituency!
Great googly moogly! They don’t even know what a conservative is!

New England, ruling class conservative. New World Order conservative.
Voodoo conservatives, in other words.
David Souter.
It probably didn’t take Rove long to draft their lines.
If the fix in in I'm outta here. I'll write in Sarah Palin.
Thumbs down on that.
3rd parties are not a good thing, but we will have no part of Mitt, no matter who tries to force it.....I am against 3rd parties... strongly against them... but if Mitt is the GOP nominee, I'll have to vote 3rd party myself, for the first time ever.
Figures they would pick the most liberal Governor in history, the guy who instituted “gay” “marriage,” socialized medicine, complete with $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions, banned guns, and completely homosexualized government schools and state government in Massachusetts.
“Maybe George HW and Barb are secretly really for Palin. Everything out of their mouths over this past week has helped her.”
I think it’s unintentional. The same ironic way that Obozo through his ineptitude has done more to further Conservatism than the Bushes and their groupies ever would.
Well then, the Cocktail Party wing of the party has decreed who’s up next, and winner is: Mittens Myth Romney.
Color me surprised. /s
Just as 1980 was all about Reagan vs. "Stop Reagan", so it is this time with Palin and "whomever".
The elites do seem to be thrashing around to find their "Stop Palin", though. Probably why the "Huck deception" backup plan is all over the media lately. They're skeered they ain't got nobody. :)
Exactly, who is really going to base their choice on what these two say? In two years the Tea Party will be even stronger and deeper entrenched than they were this year, lets see how things pan out.
The problem is the first primary states are more moderate (RINO) areas (IA, NH, MI, NV). He could have a huge lead right off the bat. I will have to hold my nose (Like McCain in 2008) and vote for him over Obama if he wins the primary and I am sure that is what he is hoping for.
Ask yourself: why does the MSM want Romney to run?
If the RINOs and Pubbie Blue Bloods force that down our throat, there will be a 3rd party in 2012 that will blow the doors off both Dems and Pubbies.

I slightly disagree. Should that scenario occur in 2012, the Democrats would win with a modest plurality, the GOP would place third and would then begin an irreversible decline into oblivion.
Karl Rove has to have the largest head in the world, except for Macy’s parade marchers and Minor League Baseball mascots.
What a choice we might have in ‘12: an “unrepentant abortionist/statist lying political whore” or 0bama.
