I believe that I will drive

How about next year, when a "credible terror threat" results in checkpoints on the road? Papieren bitte!

I said yes it did legally, if you want to impose it on yourself go ahead, just don’t expect sympathy from a court. Been there tried that. Trust me.

Oaths are meaningless. Check the Lakin trial. Of course, most if not all of what the Executive and Legislative branches do is a violation of the Constitution, but they have the guns and the courts. Any questions?

Understand the difference between “should” and “would”. Your post used the word “would”, so I took it as such. For the sake of continuing the dialog pleasantly, I will translate your intent as “should”, and agree with your intent to wait things out a bit.

My Freeper friend, I don’t necessarily disagree with you on the legality of the oath as a viable legal defense....

The violation of the 4th amendment covers that.....

The premis of the question is what should a veteran do?

If you are so stuck on the 4th Amendment and your oath, look at it this way. No oath in thw last 10years or so has been upheld. The 10th Amendment limits the power and scope of the federal goevernment but it has been ignored by everyone for a very long time. It is just to hard to get anyone to observe the 10th.

Tom Hanks made a movie called The Terminal in which a foreigner was trapped in a terminal. He couldn’t enter the USA nor go back to his country.

Your situation is different in that you are a USA citizen.
It brings up the possibility that USA citizens could live in airport-limbo compliments of the TSA.

I applaud your resolute firmness, but I also imagine that the authorities realized the ludicrousness of their position. What could they do? Send you back to Europe?

If anyone is violating their oath it is the TSA employees.

As I see it you have one choice. Choose to fly or not. This isn’t going away and will only be built upon.

Wow, an adult with wisdom and perseverance!

This reminds me of the scene in “Gandhi” (no, I’m not a pacifist) where Gandhi & company are faced with British police on horseback trying to stop their demonstration (IIRC, the Indians wanted the right to spin their own cotton thread). Gandhi tells his followers to lie down since the horses won’t step on them. Gandhi’s followers did so, and the horses did not step on them.

I have no idea whether or not this was a true incident or if horses actually behave that way. However, as portrayed, it took an ENORMOUS amount of courage.

You, sir, are a courageous and honorable man. I salute you!

Like I said, if all it takes is an order, one will surely be forthcoming.

It should be an insult to all Americans that this is what we´ve come to in this War On Terror.

This can´t be called winning.

Then we can play match IDs and see who outranks who. Last time I checked an O-4 beats a slick sleeve by a long shot.

Or if you walk through the machine with your arms extended in a universal gesture of surrender make sure your middle fingers are extended in another universal gesture.
