N. Korea fires artillery towards S. Korean island, official says
SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Tuesday fired several rounds of artillery towards South Korean waters and an island near the tense west sea border, the South's military said.
The North's artillery shells fell at 2:34 p.m. in the South's waters off the island of Yeonpyeong, some of them landing directly on the island, said Col. Lee Bung-woo, spokesman at the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The South's military responded with its artillery firing.

[ China is North Koreas most important ally; biggest trading partner; and main source of food, arms, and fuel. China has helped sustain Kim Jong-Ils regime and opposed harsh international economic sanctions in the hope of avoiding regime collapse and an uncontrolled influx of refugees across its eight-hundred-mile border with North Korea.
Its no bother to China....its an opportunity. That way, when millions of North Koreans go missing......They wont be found in China. ]
Either that or china steps in and takes out Kim Jong Ill, installs a puppet government and ends up merging N Korea into China and China looks like the hero on the international front.

I’ll think they will lay low and let the SK president show his belly a bit more.

Slightly off topic here, but I just heard Rush saying that China would probably go ahead and take Taiwan before Obama leaves office due to the fact that their would not be any consequences.

Was looking at this last night. A couple of hours after the shooting started at about 6:30 PM their time traffic showed heavy in the city center and moderate to light elsewhere like about any other major city. I didn't expect Seoul to be on a war footing like Tel Aviv was during the Scud attacks but I did expect to see some extraordinary activity there. Nothing.

This is likely an accurate assessment, just not one you want to hear made everyday.

Military defectors have testified that NK quit believing they could win a war against SK sometime back in the 90’s. They can hit Seoul with lots of artillery but they would come under heavy counter-battery fire.

Someone, someday is going to have to end NK as anything other than a tragic memory.
Too bad it won’t happen for at least another two years. I wonder how many innocents have to die before we have a President with the balls to act?

He's a loose cannon like so many megalomaniacal tyrants, similar to the one in our own WH. I cannot believe NK just declared war and Obama has done zippo. Nothing. he's probably just ordered SK president to just bow to Kim Dungo and get it over with.

No. He just jerks SK’s chain, declares victory and he never has to fight. He won this battle.
