For some reason I thought he was doing one of those look backs into history on this date in the past. If not then prayers up for all aboard!

Looks like it’s SNOWING at Sea-Tac.
Flight identified as a China Airlines 747 off of runway 34L.

From Airliners:

China Airlines 747 on Runway 34L. Emergency crews have responded. It is at the north end of the airport.

Airport is still open. Current weather is not very good at all. Strong winds of 17mph gusting to 25 with ice on the ground and current snow. Some airports handle winter weather well, but SEA is not the best prepared since it gets little snow. Current delays are over 1hr on arrival and it is getting worse.

Ruh roh! Been snowing here all day (not much, a couple of inches), but around here, that’s a lot. Nothing on local TeeVee yet...

It’s dumping sleet and snow here just across from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The wife’s cooking up some chili and cornbread. Maybe hot cocoa later?

Hope the folks at SEATAC are OK.

I don’t know the weather conditions at Sea-Tac. I am 3 hours to the west and we presently have about 3’ of that white global warming stuff on my roof. This could easily be weather related.

We have a near-record-low weather alert here along the west coast. Arctic cold wave from Canada coming for Thanksgiving.

False Alarm

SEATAC, Wash. — A Boeing 747 freighter overshot its designated stopping point on a runway after landing at Sea-Tac Airport on Monday afternoon, an airport representative told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The China Airlines plane with two or three people aboard was too close to the runway's end to make a turn after stopping, so a tug has to push the plane backward, said Terri-Ann Betancourt.

The plane went beyond a painted line on the runway but did not go off the pavement, Betancourt said.

It was a “driving” and not an in-flight problem, Betancourt said, adding that there were no injuries and no damage as a result of the incident.

Sea-Tac’s runaways are open for traffic

FOR EVERYONE:

Sattle/Tacoma/Everett area is pretty much in total, complete gridlock. ALL freeways are shot, many major side roads are also locked up.

People are having big problems getting to the airport. One caller to a local news/talk station said he saw people walking up the road close to the airport with their luggage...in a driving snowstorm...just so they could get to the terminal.

Kinda reminds me of deicing jetBlue last season. Hour and a half to get there, mile-long death walk from Federal Circle to where I had to be, then do a 20-something hour shift, all while on little to no sleep.

I won’t miss it this season. So yeah, I know how bad it can be when the rain/sleet and snow are coming down. Good luck to those crews.
