The GOP Presidential Primary Isn’t Big Enough for Palin and a Bunch of Others
National Review Online ^ | 11/22/10 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 11/22/2010 11:38:15 AM PST by FTJM

The two Republicans whose names came up most often on the NR cruise? Sarah Palin and Chris Christie.

In my interactions with only a fraction of the 700+ NR cruisegoers — mostly older, mostly well-off, passionate about politics, and many heavily involved with the tea parties — I found about two-thirds wildly enthusiastic about Sarah Palin; you could hear the gasps when Scott Rasmussen predicted she would not be the 2012 Republican nominee. Most of the remaining one-third said that while they personally liked Palin, they didn’t want to see her run in 2012, or anytime soon. An isolated few didn’t seem to like Palin much at all.

I was struck by how many Palin fans agreed with me that resigning the governorship, while understandable, is a serious misstep for any aspiring president. If you want to govern, it is best to demonstrate that you can govern.

The Palin family has taken over your television, between “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” on TLC and Bristol Palin dancing up a storm on “Dancing With the Stars.” You’re also seeing Palin on the cover of People and other non-political magazines. It’s odd to see a Republican begin to master the domination of pop culture that Obama practiced in 2007 and 2008, and this is certainly a way to keep Palin enthusiasts at a fever pitch. But I’m not sure this approach gets her where she wants to go, or at least whether it wins over the folks who aren’t on board with her already.

I don’t think Palin has to stick to your transparent lies about what she said.

OK and? Obviously the cruise was the transportation for them to get up there.

DeMint is right, she was for it before she was against it and later officially killed it.

You make things up to support your point of view.

Ah, yes.... So I provide actual evidence that makes a simple and obvious point directly, and you deny it.

You folks have lost all contact with reality. You sound like Obama supporters.

There is no evidence that either one can win a presidential primary, but it doesn't really matter, because Palin will decide who and what she intended with her statement, and when her internal criteria have been met, or not, not you.

As has been pointed out, Pence won the Value Voters Summit straw poll and DeMint has great support among the TEA party and Conservatives. Any attempt to rule them out at this point is ridiculous and just DDS or P(ence)DS. Her words speak for themselves, if there is a true Conservative in the race she will not run and support them instead.

You are clinging to, and obsessing over nothing.

So says the person parsing the word "cruise" ad infinitum....good one.

I think hanging around the Obama meetings is tainting your thought process.

This is a conservative site.

Mayor of Wasilla is the last elected job in which she actually served out her term.

But she plans to complete all the episodes under her reality show contract. That ought to count for something.

“Her words speak for themselves”

Yes, so quit lying, you’re a congenital liar, no better than Clinton.

“if there is a true Conservative in the race she will not run and support them instead.”

...and another lie lmao.

You've read her words and they speak for themselves, no lying to it. If anything, you're lying and your DDS is getting the better of you.

Please go troll somewhere else.

Man, obsessing is correct, you are confusing “cruise” with the leading conservative candidate not running for President, the scale of the two conversations are quite different.

In time we may see one of those candidates make a feint towards running, but at this point neither one of them has any position of importance in rankings, or any great following among the base.

Well yes, DeMint wrote the article for the Wall Street Journal to make it clear that Governor Palin killed the bridge.

I’ve been called a troll by a Romney bot Palin hater...

Thanks you, good to know I struck a nerve.

The congenital lying coming from your words is astoundingly I dense. I thought you Mythbots were elites with education?

Good synopsis and I would add Mike Huckabee actually said something I agree with on his program last weekend: If someone wants to run for higher office then they should quit their government-paid job and run, not run while the taxpayers pay their full salary and benefits for not showing up for work (ahem Barack Obama or John McCain or.....fill in the blank... all ran and didn't show up for work for the two years prior to the 2008 vote, if -- in fact -- Palin quit to run for President, well the taxpayers are not paying her a salary to run all over the lower 48, are they... so she saved the taxpayers of Alaska in two ways..

The more people go after her the more I like her.

Yea, but one is true and one is a lie.

Since you’ve been lying all day, it’s pretty clear who the RomneyBot and Troll is.

It was two different points, one was the absurdity of comparing someone discussing the choice of your use of the word “cruise” with your obsession of thinking that the leading conservative Presidential candidate said she will not run for President, the scale is way off.

The other was to point out that those two guys you mentioned are not in the running for the nomination at this time, and they have no substantial support in that direction, so it is a little hopeless to try and over sell them as equal to a serious frontrunner like Governor Palin.

You have too long an anti-Palin, and too long a pro-Mitt Romney posting history, to carry much weight.

Ah, yes.... So I provide actual evidence that makes a simple and obvious point directly, and you deny it.

Evidence my foot. You make things up that support your point-of-view.

Yesterday you said that there was no way that there were transparent ballot boxes.

Today it was your lame link to Sarah reading a teleprompter.

You folks have lost all contact with reality. You sound like Obama supporters.

Dude, you are nuts.

I'm sorry folks, but Chris Christie supported a draconian semi-auto firearm ban!

He ran a campaign ad deriding one of his opponents for opposing the ban.

As much as I like Governor Christie, this FACT disqualifies him as being "truly conservative". It's sad but true.

I could never vote for a Presidential (or Vice Presidential) candidate who supports such gun control.
