L.A. contrail a missile launch? Retired general thinks so (op-ed)
Daily Inter Lake.com ^ | Sunday, November 21, 2010 2:00 am | Updated: 8:13 am, Sun Nov 21, 2010. | Jim Cash, retired brigadier general, U.S. Air Force

Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clinton’s excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nation’s national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.

I am referring to the “missile shot” taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.

(snip)

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.

Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD’s muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

It's longer than his entire op-ed.

And his assignment as a Command Director at NORAD was just a couple of sentences at the end of a paragraph.

The stories he could tell. Now that is a guy you want to buy a few beers for.

is that they'd have to fake the Flightaware data,

The Flightware track data for UPS902 on November 8th shows no directional travel Northward and no directional travel even close to NorthEastward, while the plane was over water near the US coast. So the supposed contrail could not physically bend to the right or turn to the right when viewed from the Helicopter located over Los Angeles Harbor. Yet it does. What you need to ask yourself, is why they choose that angle of view for their 3d flightware track. There is a good reason they did. And it was not based on their theory being sound.

Rokke, thanks for posting that great dramatic still shot of a south-west-bound airliner contrail so dramatically resembling a missile plume. I think it illustrates pretty well how the lighting in each photo reveals so much. TigersEye, you posted a great photo in #35 on the thread discussing Glen Beck's take, the one from Leyvas' video. Compared side-by-side, the two photos make it beautifully clear how the same sunset lighting illuminates something rising toward it differently than how it lights something passing over it.

In Rokke's very cool plane contrail photo, the sunlight is coming from below on the north west side, to the POV's right. Look at how much of what we can see of the entire contrail is reflecting brilliant sunlight, consistently from end to end -- most of it, two thirds of the trail's width at least. That's because from our POV, looking up at something passing over head above the sun on the horizon, the underside of the contrail is all we see. The part we see lit brightly is the part facing west. The easterly-facing edge of the contrail, toward the left, is in shadow ...

... and in Leyvas' pic, that's about 2/3 the width of the plume. Most of it's in shadow -- the side facing us. That would be, east.

In Leyvas' film, even via the distant still shot of the plume arcing north westerly (I'd link, but photos are beyond my ken) one can see that only the west-north edge of the cylindrical plume is brilliantly lit.

From our POV, two-thirds of the volume of the plume is in shade. That's the side pointing east. In order for this to even happen, the plume must be vertical.

And today Korea is lighting up big time. Looks like they are taking the world to war whether the world wants it or not. The Los Angeles missile launch was thwarted or failed, so lets go to war with China through Korea. All their fiscal policy (Obama Gangster/Banksters) right now is geared toward provoking China to war. They want war. It is the late 1930’s and early 1940’s again. Best prepare. Only two ways to deal with our debt/deficits. Hyperinflation or war. Or possibly both. IMHO.

Now you got it. Congradulations. That is what I noticed a few days after diving into the issue. Done deal for me. 100 % Missile.

Are you sure about the date of the msg you’ve been posting?

I find page 55 interesting. Seems to be for October. Seems to be from a pub of prior messages.

There is no doubt in my mind that zero had already picked a target much like clinton’s “aspirin factory” back in the day. That is what the warships were for. He intended to strike and be a national security “hero” and he would have been announcing his “victory” from the third largest mosque in the world.
This man is so dangerous that the US Marshalls should have been escorting his treasonous self in handcuffs and shackles out of OUR Whitehouse YESTERDAY!
clinton ALSO tried to provoke the Chinese, (in case anyone has forgotten,) and they kept their heads, or we would have been in the thick of it then. That is one of the reasons I don’t buy the China angle. It is clearly NOT in China’s interest to so something this insane.
Dittos for Russia. Clark,(clinton,)was deliberately trying to start WWIII with one or the other. zero is playing the same mad game...using the same terrorist groups clinton had ingratiated himself to.
These are facts, not speculation, and I fear deeply for this country. Neither clinton nor zero have any allegiance to this country. And woe to those who insist that this is all tinfoily stuff because some of us KNOW what we are talking about. Then, as now, no one was listening. It is only by the grace of G-d we have escaped as many times as we have.

Here is what a contrail poster has requested:

To: Names Ash Housewares

It was an airplane for God sake. I cannot believe the level of whacko-ness that this has generated.

I would be curious to know your qualifications.

Myself, I actually worked at Cape Canaveral on compound #16, rigging Pershing II missles with telemetry and then launching them into the Atlantic.

That ‘contrail’ looked exactly like the trail our missles left in the sky, at about the same tempature and same humidity.

Exactly.

I have also watched shuttles launch and and many Trident missles.

What are your qualifications again?

Case closed. I’m tired of these tiring shills with their shrill insults and laughable “science” and animated gifs ...

I find it hard to believe China wants war with “us” now.
If they did all the strategic forces would be on alert- I haven't seen any indications they are.

China is better off controlling the USA economically and thus politically and diplomatically. There a different ways to create a vassal state. Buying one, for example. That keeps the economic markets operating in ways the rulers can control to their advantage. China needs our coal, wheat, soybeans and corn. Instead of occupying us, they are just buying us.

I find it plausible that China would fire a shot across our bow (deliciously ironically so when Mowgli-potus is in India with a retinue of 3000 people) to warn Mowgli not to get involved when Jr Chia Head attacks South Korea to make his bones as the next leader of that crazy dynasty.

China appears to be going with the devil they know in North Korea, not risking a turnover of power outside of the Kim clan.

Not nearly as impressive as "government contrail expert"

Who are these guys? Please share with us a link to something by one of these "government contrail expert"s.

"The problem with these overlaid pictures is that the plane barely moves forward in this multiple overlay while the contrail moves a lot. That doesn't make sense. "

Foreshortening with a long lens. The A/C has minimal apparent angular velocity because it is coming almost directly toward the camera; the contrail is being blown at right angles to the flight path. FYI, that equates to large angular velocity. (Look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls...)

But please don't let me upset your fantasies with mere science...

Carry on!

Worse...as I mentioned upthread, I saw two missile trails with the telltale “rockets-only” corkscrew heading over my house yesterday. So, clearly, the Chi Coms, Iranians, MSM, FreeMasons etc have gotten their subs into Lake Michigan.

Actually, are we sure that Warren was using a long lens and not just full zoom? Not that this would change the answer, but if the information is available I’d like to have it.

Bottom line though is that unless the Warren photos are completley photoshop creations from beginning to end, we have an object that cannot be a missile. That would be true even if it weren’t UPS 902...though it is.

"That's a freakin' joke, right?"

FYI, I (TXnMA) produced that image -- beginning with a graphic from contrailscience.com -- and I conclusively connected UPS 902 directly with the final published frames of the video.

The object making the video "plume" and UPS flight 902 are one and the same.

Joke? Am I laughing?

FYI, on 11 November, I passed my tenth anniversary of active posting here on FR. My FR posting history speaks for itself.

FYI, my point was.....You'd think we would have been inundated with similar video...daily...hourly, which depict simple contrails appearing as missiles.

I'd like to see these videos.

To be precise, a "long lens" is one with a focal length greater than that of a focal length that provides "normal" coverage for a specific image format.

For example, 50mm focal length is considered "normal" for the 24mm X 36 mm "35mm" film format. A lens zoomed out to, say, 135mm, would be a "long" lens, and would produce significant foreshortening.

My longer, fixed Nikkor lenses will make a plane coming toward you almost appear to be standing still. But a plane crossing at right angles will typically be blurred. (It's all a matter of relative angular velocity...)

Ah, understanding dawns.

As a layman, I had thought that long lens was another term for telephoto attachments. Thanks for the correction.

Was looking at the Bob Hope Flight monitor and trying to find that plane/helicopter shown in front of the missile. Only thing I could see that was not labeled as a medium to large passenger airline, was a E120 plane. Saw no Cessna's or Helicopters in that area. Image of that plane is below. Could it be this plane type ?

I think you may be correct about the aircraft type, but will go back and look. I think we won't get a rock solid identification, though...the image isn't good enough. However, the truly, truly awesome aviation expert Hardraade says it was going backwards, and therefore cannot be a fixed wing aircraft. He says it was a USN Chinook with a dipping sonar, off to chase the ChiCom sub.

So, you guys should get your stories straight. Otherwise, someone might think one of you is a planeloader mole. ;-)
