Newt Gingrich Refuses To Participate In Any Debate With “Hostile” Chris Matthews And Keith Olbermann
Mediaite ^ | 11/21/10 | Matt Schneider

With speculation about Republican candidates for President running wild, likely candidate Newt Gingrich appeared on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal and declared that the Republican candidates for President should organize the terms of the debates and not the news media. Before one dismisses this as the usual conservative gripe against the “liberal media,” it does consistently seem odd that MSNBC attempts to put Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann in the position of hosting election night coverage or moderating candidate debates when each host clearly has a liberal perspective.Newt’s verbal smackdown:

“Newt Gingrich Refuses To Participate In Any Debate With “Hostile” Chris Matthews And Keith Olbermann”

Good for The Newt! I still won’t vote for him, but this IMO is a good decision on his part.

No candidate should appear with Olberman, Maddow , Schultz,or Mathews/

It’s stupid to stick you head in a meatgrinder.

I absolutely agree with Newt on this one. Republicans( at least those with 2 or maybe 3 cajones) should refuse to have Libtard moderators.

I want to see my dream team- Rush Limbaugh/Hugh Hewitt and Mark Levin as the panel of moderators.

All should follow, I cannot believe that the Republicans would agree to a debate with Keith and/or Chris moderating. STUPID.

Excellent! It's about time conservatives ditched the set-up ambush that the MSM does on them.

Olbermann is an idiot. He tweets he never moderated a GOP debate when Newt clearly states questions were asked of Democrats. Newt also does not say Matthews or Olberman were at the debate he referred to...it could have been Gwen Ifill or any lefty.

Good for Newt. I’m sick and tired of having left wing moderators steer debates.

Absolutely agree. I cannot understand why any Republican would ever consent to a liberally moderated debate. And they not only do they do it repeatedly. Stupid is as stupid does I guess.

If they had any balls they would demand that one debate be held by Fox News and that moderators would include Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, maybe even Michelle Malkin. Feel free to add anyone else you can think of who doesn’t hold back. If the libtard candidate refuses......then no debates on NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, etc. etc.

I keep waiting for this line of attack and it never ever materializes.

I believe ALL Conservative candidates or office holders should just BOYCOTT the State-Run-Media (I don't consider Gingrich a conservative at all), and should not appear on their networks for interviews, election coverage, or any other bashing-opportunity.

Let them do as they have always done (bash any anti-socialist), and don't give them the time of day......

Good for Newt.

Personally, I wouldn’t pee on Matthews/Olberman OR Newt if they were on fire.

If republicans weren’t so gutless and therefore perpetually willing to bend over for the leftist media they would complain long and loud about the breathtaking bias exhibited in debates.

What Newt is suggesting is what they basically did in the UK election debates this year and they were fascinating... I stayed up until three in the morning to watch and said at the time that is how we should debate here because you really, really find out what the candidates are all about...none of this gotcha stuff it is down in the trenches discussing each other’s political philosophy with a time-keeper asking some basic questions to get it started and then let them go at it.
