CBS Local News NYC ^

A criminal complaint alleges Chester Academy Principal Ernest Jackson entered the home without permission when the two boys didn’t come to school in late September, and actually tried to coax them out of their beds.

“Jackson had a school psychologist with him during the unannounced visit. The boys’ mother wasn’t home, and there’s dispute over whether an adult relative passing by gave them permission to enter the home. The boys’ father, living in Brooklyn, filed the complaint a month after the incident.”

Sounds to me like this mother thinks she hit the jackpot in a lawsuit against the school for $$$...

Clue for YOU: More to this story than the first line....

Doesn’t work that way.

It might make a good movie if the principal got kicked in the face by the kids’ sister and mauled by their dog. I think I’ll write that idea up.

Exactly. This is outrageous. I can’t believe all the comments on that site agreeing with this. I think a lot of people don’t have a problem with it because the guy is ex military. If he were, say a typical liberal teacher, some of you people would be up in arms about it.

If you’ll remember the principle got his ass kicked by a rottweiller(sp) and Jennifer Gray...

Doesn’t work that way.

Depends on facts not in the story. A roommate can give consent to a police search, which would be a higher burden than a school official providing a wake-up call.

It's interesting that it's the absentee father who filed the complaint, not one of the folks who actually lives there.

Residents in Chester seem to favor giving the principal the benefit of the doubt.

“He really cares, he’s a good guy,” Ed Dunn said. “I’d want him to come and kick my kid in the butt if he saw my kid doing something wrong.”

Your problem is you aren’t old enough to remember how things USE to work and Worked Well.

No matter what anyone thinks of this man's actions and technique, he was making an effort to stop the kids from joining the ranks of the terminally stupid. He went to their home because he cared about what happens to them. If the parents were doing their jobs the kids would have been in school instead of unsupervised and laying around in bed.

But the end of this tale is now already written.

The kids parents may win this skirmish and screw the taxpayers out of some money to boot, but they and the kids themselves will lose the war and the kids will ultimately be the ones to suffer.

After all the bashing of school administrators, teachers, ad nauseam, finally an administrator who actually cares steps forward and does the unthinkable.......I say put him in charge of the district school board.

My nephew went to a private school here in the Detroit area. If he was not in school by 9:00 a.m., and if it was not a pre-notified absence, my sister got a call asking where he was..........
