In a National Review Online column on November 19, Mona Charen provided an explanation of why she believes Sarah Palin shouldnt run for President. She argued that after the 2008 campaign, Palin quit her job as governor after two and a half years and seemed to chase money and empty celebrity. She asserted that Palin seems consumed and obsessed by the media, labeled Palins new TLC show, Sarah Palins Alaska, a cheesy entrant in the reality-show genre, and took issue with the fact that Sarah and Todd sit in the Dancing with the Stars audience cheering on their unwed-mother daughter. She opined that Palins endorsement of Christine ODonnell was irresponsible and damaging and suggested that She would be terrific as a talk-show host the new Oprah.
First and foremost, lets address one of Charens opening points as to why Palin should sit 2012 out. She stated, Americans will be looking for sober competence, managerial skill, and maturity not sizzle and flash. Perhaps a walk down policy lane is in order.
As Governor, Sarah Palin actualized AGIA, the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, the largest private sector infrastructure project in North American history. Palins administration opened up drilling for oil and gas at Point Thomson for the first time in several decades. As Governor, Palin reduced earmark requests for Alaska by 80%, established Alaskas Petroleum Integrity Office to oversee safe energy development, placed the state checkbook online, and reduced spending for Fiscal Year 2010 by over one billion dollars from Governor Murkowskis Fiscal Year 2007 budget. Palin signed ACES, Alaskas Clear and Equitable Share bill, into law, incentivizing development and ensuring that Alaskans would receive a clear and equitable share of oil profits.

his type of crap is why I question National Review more and more. This article is pure elitism and has nothing to do with Sarahs Conservative values. Screw you Mona, and Barbara Bush too while I am at it.
Just another useless Rovitte mouthing the same pointless Rino talking point.
Mona, you and other Rino’s just don’t get it. It is not your choice who runs and gets elected, it is the peoples Choice.
Mona is a Romney fan. Search her previous articles on the goofball.
Mona Charen, Peggy Noonan, Kathleen Parker, etc. — a lot of jealous columnists out there.
Jealous of Palin and has the hots for a good looking older guy. That’s Mona’s problem.
I am a big fan of Sarah’s. I attended many of her rallies in 08 in Pa and Oh. I met some great people there and enjoyed them all. However, I do think we need someone different in 12. She will never be taken seriously by many people in this country. I think we need a new face who wasn’t involved in 08 at all. There has to be a person out there with her beliefs and character without the baggage.
“Screw you Mona, and Barbara Bush too while I am at it.”
Well said!
For goodness' sake! WHO pays attention to that rag anymore? Have you actually READ it since 2003? Do you read the "lively repartee' " on NRO and "The Corner"?
I didn't think so. Nobody does. It's a neocon mouthpiece paid for by neocon foundations that nobody cares about. If you are over 40, you know that this is not the TNR that we grew up devouring.
Mona is spewing what her paymasters request. Nancy Reagan's greatest moment was firing this hack.
(Kudos to mega-neocon Charles Krauthammer for being on the right side of the TSA atrocities! You won't see many like minded pieces on TNR or The Weekly Standard.)
Simply put, she's not afraid to be just Sarah Palin. And in our phony, snobby chameleon-happy political world, that is priceless.
A nice piece of rebuttal here. I was gratified to absorb it. Sarah's basic good old fashioned commonsense and decency is like a silent accusation of what the radical left often lacks For I came in from the mall and Santa's photo sessions with grandson. I then saw on the television a Mark Plotkin (America political expert). I listened to man's polite sneers at Sarah and his equally snide putdown of Donald Trump. It dawned on me that the left has an agreed on mantra out there.
I thought that it was CNN at first. No, it was the other Canadian monolith CTV. Much funded by the Canadian taxpayers. Yet here was a Mark Plotkin from the punditocracy. He was given full rein, without the usual breaking in of the television host, when not approving the view of the guest. No usual but, but, but etc. Here they go again!
I would make a rather questionable remark about some the ladies of Canadian television. During the presidential election of 2008, some of them covered this in the USA. They did not...... but they may have..... well threw their underwear at one particular candidate. All on tax payers dollars. (laughs).
I smaell catty in the air.
Now that’s a name I haven’t heard from in a long, long time. Is she still relevant?
