Fred Barnes seems to have reversed his opinion on Governor Palin's presidential prospects. He said the following at the non-partisan Alabama Policy Institute:
When moderator and API president Gary Palmer asked the panelists for their take on potential 2012 presidential candidates, Moore brought up the names Chris Christie, Paul Ryan and Mike Pence. Moore forgot Sarah Palin! exclaimed Barnes, who said that Palin is the most solidly conservative possibility with a tremendous following.
While he considered Jim DeMint to also be a good potential candidate, Barnes said Never underestimate Sarah Palin.

By the time she gets to the Whitehouse she will be throughly co-opted by the financial/corporate oligarchy.

“Superficial notion of winability” refers to the notion of the elusiv “fiscally conservative, socially liberal” candidate who would win over his equally elusive constituency of like-minded voters.
The ones that every pundit says we need to win but for some reason never get found in the electoral snipe hunt.
That “superficial notion” would put up, if not a Romney, then maybe a Pawlenty, Thune or Daniels. All of whom would inspire a tidal wave of ennui.

I’d rather DeMint serve out his time in the Senate, THEN run. He’s too valuable there.

Barnes said Never underestimate Sarah Palin.I said this yesterday on another thread and will continue to. We all forget where Sarah started her journey in politics and that trajectory right there and the WAY she has had to go about doing it is what will make her the first female president of the United States.

When I heard that comment I thought only of the candidate who must be conservative in every imaginable area so as to make conservatives happy (I am one) but who is incapable of winning independents.

Christie was a big supporter of the RINO, Mike Castle. He has done some good things but is another RINO...just not as much as Mittens.

Interesting journey Barnes has had with respect to Palin. He, Bill Kristol, Victor Davis-Hanson, Michael Steele and Dick Morris were on the 2007 Alaskan cruise that "discovered" Palin in 2007. He and Kristol wrote a Weekly Standard piece upon their return identifying her as a rising star.
He's cooled on her with all the MSM attacks in the last year or so. Now it seems he's confused again...LOL.

Barnes said, "Never underestimate Sarah Palin."
WSJ poll now Sarah 54.8%, Obama 45.2%
As she hasn't even announced!
