Millimeter and backscatter scanning machines are not installed in all airports that fly into major hubs, and as far as I know, the mandatory pat downs are not necessarily required where the scanners are not installed.

So the question is, as with the border, if it's not locked down everywhere, then what good is pat-downs in some places?

The terrorists will just go to the TSA website and drive to a "no-scanner-yet" airport.

Then fly to JFK or wherever and voila: 911,000! (Team America Reference...)

Oh sh**. They'll just start going after buildings. Let's not miss what the other hand is doing. It still comes down to intelligence, diligence and people seeing something out of order....

The Times Square Bomber is a good case. Hasan is another.

That’s exactly what I said earlier. Only a small percentage of folks go through enhanced screening, even in the places where the machines are. The rest get regular metal detectors.

It never was about “security”. If it was they would be profiling muslims in general and muslim men in particular. Israel has it right and they are not into zero-tolerance, mind-numbing, no common sense PC treating ALL passengers like they could be terrorists. Nope they already know the profile, and so do we. We don’t have the balls to put REAL safety measures in place.
