Not true. Click on your links again and look for "track log and graph" link after "Status". The UPS flight climbed to FL390 1.5 hours prior to beginning its descent into Ontario. The AWE flight remained at FL370 for the entire cruise portion of its flight.
Those are some thin straws you're hanging onto. The atmosphere was different at 37k ft than at 39k ft and the sat pic with only one contrail, that conveniently held together in the jet stream for its whole length is cropped on the western end just in time to make your case.
