It was an airplane for God sake. I cannot believe the level of whacko-ness that this has generated.

I would be curious to know your qualifications. Myself, I actually worked at Cape Canaveral on compound #16, rigging Pershing II missles with telemetry and then launching them into the Atlantic. That 'contrail' looked exactly like the trail our missles left in the sky, at about the same tempature and same humidity. Exactly. I have also watched shuttles launch and and many Trident missles. What are your qualifications again?

I lived in Fl during the first shuttle launches, and whatever it was in the Pacific looked like a more than one stage missle to me.

BTW, my husband was a Navy pilot, and is still a private pilot. It didn’t look like any kind of trail that a plane would leave to him, either.

He was fortunate enough to be able to fly a plane (some kind of Lear) up before a Pershing II missle launch, to gage the temp, humidity, etc. It was a total trip for him!

Say what you will about Glenn Beck, but this incident reeks.

I’ve seen all the elements of this illusion personally.
I live in SoCal my entire life.
I am a private pilot that has flown these skies here off and on since the mid eighties.
Also I ahve watched many Vandenberg launches as they are very visable from ALL up and down the SoCal coast, sometimes as far as Nevada.

This contrail illusion was visable from a very limited area of course. No other reports. No lingering rocket plume illuminated after sunset I might add.

The contrail science site nails it dead on why this appearead as it did. This is no mystery, it’s no rocket.

IF that is not good enough....

Feel free to believe in a massive conspiricy of dozens of agencys and thousands of people, orchestrated within hours of the event perfectly. NASA weather experts of course included who looked at the weather satellite data and found the contrail later.

It’s Art Bell land at that point. It really is and I have no understanding at all why people need so badly to believe this was something it wasn’t.

My first thought at seeing the video... too slow.

Looked nothing like the Vandenberg rockets at all.

Again, PLEASE look this over...

It becomes obvious quickly that a rational explaination fits perfectly.

Excellent!

:Perhaps YOU can address some of the key issues around this event:

1 - Could the TV station have "doctored" the video that they released -- perhaps not out of evil intent, but in the pursuit of "good television" -- so that an airplane contrail LOOKED LIKE a missle launch?

That is, if they slpiced together different parts of their ten minutes of raw footoge -- mixing up the order of the clips -- so that it APPEARED to change speed and direction in ways that it did not -- would that effect your analysis of what happened?

2 - What does the kind of missile launch that you are familiar with look like -- UP CLOSE?

What kind of SOUND would people on commercial boats nearby hear?

What would a missle launch like you are familiar with LOOK LIKE -- to nearby observers?

What would you expect for observers thirty-five miles away, on shore -- to see and hear during a missile launch like this?

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Don’t you know there is a website with contrail and science in it’s name that has shot down any theory that it was anything other than an airplane contrail? You are probably just a Beckbot. ;)
