This annoys the hell out of me, because I'm not some rabid Palinista. Crap like this from Barbara Bush leaves one no alternative but to respond to it. What, does she have another son, or a grand kid lined up for the job of President? Reagan handed your husband his, despite some misgivings, and he blew it, Barbara.
And as much as I supported her husband and her son while they were in office, they've hardly gotten us to a great place. Guess what? If not for 9/11, GW may well have been a one-term-er, just like his father. He barely escaped losing to John freaking Kerry. In fact, he barely defeated Gore in 2000. So, just how wise is this new found Bush wisdom? I don't see much in the record to support it, short of the political calculations of some consultants concerned more with winning elections, than the nation's politics.
"I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful," Barbara Bush said. "And she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
Bush, along with her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, spoke to CNN's Larry King in an interview set to air Monday.
President Bush discussed the Tea Party movement, and although he said "some of the ideas make a lot of sense," he said he isn't sure how the new movement will fit into the larger political landscape.
Read my lips, the same can be said for the price of bread and broken tax pledges.
And as for Mona Charen's, Why Sarah Palin Shouldn't Run item at Townhall, congrats Mona, you finally found something to write about and make yourself relevant, again. I can't recall anything you've done in the last two years that's generated any real interest outside the usual Beltway set you write for. If Sarah Palin has a secret weapon, it's how distasteful and classless are so many of the GOP establishment types lined-up against her. If they were nearly as smart as they fancy themselves to be, they'd probably just shut-up and let the chips fall where they may.
I don’t think so either. Bill Clinton wasn’t particularly nice after he left office to George W. during his presidency, but they sure heap the praises on Clinton.
You are exactly correct. There’s nothing constructive about it. It’s just bitchiness to be bitchy.
>broken tax pledges
Yep... the Bush family has been a mixed bag/blessing at best.
Senior was a RINO and a fervent One Worlder who was willing to bend every which way to serve his power agenda... and was not afraid to use his lying “lips” to get what he wanted. W had a good heart (really cares about America) but he mistakenly spent like a drunken sailor, almost as bad as Dims (Prescription drug bill, wtf?), was too in love with porous borders (and not enough for American sovereignty) and increased the power of the executive too much (now look who has access to it! MISTAKE).
I’m done with the Bush family in power — two steps forward, a step and a half back. We need to stride into the future. Time to give an up and coming REAL conservative a chance — if we can beat the RINO establishment enough to make it happen!
Re: “Im going to Ws book signing Monday night. Pretty pumped.”
******************
I wanted to go to Reagan Library days ago for that book-signing/speaking event — the place was sold out - packed to the rafters. Photos in local papers showed W escorting a beaming Nancy Reagan — I loved it -
Last time they had a huge crowd like that it was for Mark Levin’s book signing and speech.
“GWB was a less open-board’er than was Reagan”
You mean he was only joking when he called for full amnesty? The only reason he was “less open-board’er” than Reagan was because We The People rose up and demanded it. He did everything in his power to shove the borders wide open and accomodate illegals on our soil. We’re still reaping the benefits of his dereliction of duty in protecting our borders and citizens from the invasion.
I’m not a huge Palin fan. She lost me when she supported John McCain. But to keep bringing up her quitting as governor when she did the right thing to save the state from having to pay for all the frivilous lawsuits against her is simply a bogus argument.
IMHO, the RINOs are suffering from sour grapes and are trying to be relevant again.
This one is sold out too.. within 24 hours. Opens at 5 for a 7 o’clock show.
All this Bush bashing is making me ill. Didn't they see this gem:
George W. Bush, is, in fact, at the very least, the second most conservative President in American history.....???
Didn't he keep us safe???? :)
She is an old lady and has every right to her opinion. Why does she have to agree with you?
One would think this is a link to DU with all the Hate Bush rhetoric being spewed.
He had a 30% approval when he left office. It is not only the DU that has a problem with Bush.
BUMP
Yeah, but Palin won’t run third party. She’s no dummy.
Ross did not cost Poppy a second term. Poppy cost himself the second term. Clinton ran to right of Poppy and later Dole. In the same manner Gore had he not been Clinton connected would have easily won against W simply because as W himself stated they were not that far apart on most issues.
For eight years Ronald Reagan steered us on a course of correction, brought prosperity and restored national pride. He had things pretty much straightened out domestic, foreign, and our military problems. We were on the right path as a nation.
In four short years as POTUS Poppy gave it all away. Poppy hated the Reagan policies. So Poppy invited his LIBERAL ROCKEFELLER ELITIST past GOP failures buddies back in to take over and things went down hill very fast from there yes including our military strength. The Bush's and the Clinton's agendas combined put us back to a worse conditions overall as a nation than even Carter could create in his time.
Da Beloved W paved the way for Obama. GW Bush's policies of larger government with more federal powers has been used against us by Obama. None dare call them all tyrants though but only the DEMs are called such by most.
As for Third Parties? Let the GOP leadership be put on notice. Straighten your acts up NOW for our nations sake or be replaced in 2012. The GOP was formed as a third party a remaining sect of a previous party & it can be replaced in the same manner it was formed.
When the final demise of the USA is studied, the Republican Party and its ineptitude and desire to be liked by liberals has to be near the top of the reasons for the calamity.
“Bar remembers the damage 3rd party candidates can do.”

Like the hugely damaging RINO third party forged largely by her husband and son?
I agree. I would love to see some heated partisanship from the GOP soon to be congressional majority. I want to see some action and no more reaching across aisles selling us out. Fist flying on the house floor between parties wouldn't anger me in the least. I hope the Liberals in both parties hate my guts. LOL.
“Didn’t he keep us safe???? :)”
In a bumbling sort of compassionate for the enemy way.
in all fairness, that is kinda hard to fit on a TEA party sign...
What is really galling about this is that the Bushes act as if they are so above the fray and don’t want to intrude and mudsling, yet here is Barbara opening her trap on this when they say nothing about the current radicals in charge. She lost all respect with this. She needed to STFU, but this is what we get and silence to the fight for this country.
