TSA Takes Nail Clippers From Gun-Toting Soldier
Newser ^ | 11/19/10

Another day, another tale of the seeming absurdity of airport security. This one comes from a soldier coming home from Afghanistan on a military charter plane. The troops aboard the plane all went through security at Baghram Air Field, the soldier says in an email to RedState, passing through full-body scanners and having their bags inspected by bomb-sniffing dogs.

Yet when the plane stopped in Indianapolis to let 100 National Guard members off, the TSA insisted on re-searching all the passengers. “It’s probably important to mention that we were ALL carrying weapons,” the soldier writes.

“All of us were carrying actual assault rifles, and some of us were also carrying pistols,” though they weren’t loaded, and everyone had already been searched for ammo. Yet when the TSA found nail clippers on one of the soldiers, they insisted on confiscating them. “You can’t take those on the plane,” the TSA official said. “They can be used as a weapon.”

When the solider replied that he was permitted to take an actual weapon on the plane, the agent replied, "Yeah but you can’t use it to take over the plane. You don’t have bullets." Asked the soldier, "And I can take over the plane with nail clippers?" Apparently. He reboarded without them ... but with his weapon, along with 232 other gun-toting fliers.

He should have clubbed the TSA idiot to death with his rifle, so as to prevent him from breeding.

OK, maybe not. But it would have crossed my mind.

All of this sudden panic makes me think they are looking for something big at any moment that they know is coming down the pike...they just are throwing darts at anything.

One can’t serve in the military or the defense inductry without “clearance.” Why not extend the “clearance” policy to ALMOST everyone?

It’s called profiling.

Before 9/11, every airline pilot carried two indispensable tools in his flight bag - a Swiss army knife (usually the “executive size” with small blade, toothpick, tweezers, etc.) and a mini-screwdriver with a few extra tiny eyeglass screws. Effective 9/12, they were all confiscated by the TSA.

I was flying an early morning transcon on a Boeing 767, bound from LAX to the east coast. Passing Denver, the unthinkable happened - a lens from my prescription sunglasses dropped on the cockpit floor. The screw holding the lens in had fallen out. Briefly I thought of landing in DEN to have a mechanic bring us a screwdriver. Finally, we asked the Flight Attendant to discreetly ask the first class pax if anyone had a paper clip. We took the end of the clip and beat it flat against the seat rail) with the aircraft logbook.

In retrospect, I shoulda landed in Denver. The TSA politically correct sycophants deserved by dragged onto the 5:00 news long before 2010.

The TSA should be disbanded NOW.Their only function appears to be to harass the American People.Yet they’ll allow people of a certain religion and region of this planet to walk through unimpeded.

They searched them when they came OFF the plane? That’s harrassment, pure and simple.

That’s a shame. A cadre of armed men could have put a stop to it once and for all.

The only point of the TSA (You don’t get on until we get off) is to get the people used to surrendering their rights at will and to go through checkpoints when travelling.

“A bureaucrat is the most despicable of men, though he is needed as vultures are needed, but one hardly admires vultures whom bureaucrats so strangely resemble. I have yet to meet a bureaucrat who was not petty, dull, almost witless, crafty or stupid, an oppressor or a thief, a holder of little authority in which he delights, as a boy delights in possessing a vicious dog. Who can trust such creatures?” —Marcus Tullius Cicero

Here’s an idea:

Take a fifty or hundred dollar bill and tear it in half.

Discretely offer one half to your designated grope-goon.
Say your in a hurry and need to make your flight. Grovel a little. Promise the other half when you’re through.

You should document your intentions prior to this— have friends willing to testify, photographs on film of the bill torn in half, record of serial #, etc. Record a statement (is a cd okay, or tape?) and mail it to a friend. You’ll want a partner or two as witnesses and if possible, video.

Will he take it? If he does, he’s accepted a bribe in the form of a marked bill, that you have recorded the serial # of. Complain to non-tsa authority and the media before the goon is able to get rid of it.

Maybe he gets fired and prosecuted, but at the very least, you’ve piled another log on the fire. If he refuses, flatter and praise him; better luck next time. If he reports you, you have documentation stating your good intentions as a citizen.

By the way, I checked Wiki on entrapment,it only applies to the defendant against an arrest, so I don’t think you could be prosecuted or sued. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Keep the outrage alive!

I've had a similar recurring thought. This is just the wind up, the pitch has yet to leave the hand. This is going over the top so that we'll take anything “less invasive”. The whole thing is loosey-goosey as some airports don't even HAVE the scanners, yet, so the “enhanced pat downs” are the only option. Nope. This is just the distraction. Look for what's really coming. I think you'll see it shortly.

This is just zero tolerance enforced by low-IQ zombies. This is the same as schools confiscating drawings of guns and asthma inhalers.

You can thank modern PC for both.

All we have to do is profile young Muslim men. Threat gone.
