Actually, I have an idea that would make this (government shutdowns) impossible to enforce against Free Republic.

It involves using the peer-to-peer model.

We might have to work fast.

I been saying for years that a P2P solution would be ideal for FR.

No censorship, no server costs, same control the admin mods now have. P2P and encryption is a great combination. Will work as an add-on to browsers.

IPV6, mesh-networking. I built something for the military called a "tactical name server" many years ago. It is similar to the current "dynamic DNS" today. The biggest "trick" is getting routing to work over wide areas again if the common carrier paths and routers are seized. Check www.olsr.org and Freifunk for examples for functioning mesh networks in current use. We may be hanging routers out in our attics to provide connectivity within communities.
