A majority of Americans say that President Barack Obama's religious beliefs are either somewhat different or very different than their own, a poll on religion and the recent elections found.
The poll report, by the Public Religion Research Institute, identified Obama's religion "dilemma," as the institute called it, as one of three significant emerging religious issues to watch toward the 2012 election cycle.
Sixteen percent of respondents said that Obama's views were somewhat different from their own, and 35 percent said his beliefs were very different. Only 40 percent believe that Obama has similar religious beliefs to their own. the poll found.
The report found a strong relationship between how Americans perceive Obama's faith and their views toward him. Of those who said that Obama had similar religious views, 94 percent support the president. At the other end, nearly 80 percent of those who say they have diferent beliefs than Obama have an unfavorable view of him.

I don’t care about his religious beliefs. It’s the other ones that scare me.
Where was the pole taken because I do not believe 40% of the people in this country are Muslim.
That's rather puzzling. Did the survey for women take place in Dearborn. Michigan?
IIRC, about 3% of the people in this country are Muslim.
The balance, 37%, are very naive.
Hmmmm. I guess anti-American black liberation theology is not too popular among Americans. Who would have guessed?
The chickens are coming home to roost.
zimple. Obama wants to dance around, beat around the bush and avoid public knowledge that he is a muslim. Rev Wrights “church” is a variant of islam. Thats one of the reasons he holds Farrakhan in high regard.
Its a part of his masquerade.
Raised in Moselm schools and still knows the prayers.
Sat in Jeremiah Wright’s Black Liberation Theology church for 20 years.
Barck Hussenin Obama is not a Christian.
I agree that he doesn’t know. One’s belief system, when it is sincere, comes from the inside out. obamanation doesn’t have an inside.....IMO
Wow! Im amazed. I had not seen that poll. That would indicate that indeed Palin should be a very good candidate in 12 if Im reading that poll right.
I think that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.
Barry Hussein thinks that Barry Hussein is the 0bamessiah.
So ...
I'd say his religious views are very different from mine.
