Thanks. Interesting post. I was suspicious of this guy who attacked Steele while resigning, and I looked him up. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, what I found was that he was an operative for Mitt Romney. He also worked for Juan McCain.

He is, IMHO, not a good guy who is leaving in disgust, but a rat abandoning a sinking ship. I think the problem with Steele is that he was surrounded by corrupt establishment operatives, and was given his job on condition that he work with them, business as usual.

Steele has been behaving better these past few months. The problem runs a good deal deeper than just Steele.

Yes, Collins is likely preparing to go back to work for Romney. However, be sure to read his resignation letter. He makes some good points against Steele's foolishness.

Putting aside my loathing of the ineffectual, lackadaisacal toad Steele, for a moment, I agree with you.

"Not only did Collins hold a position of tremendous influence, he also brought with him Derek Flowers and Susan Hepworth, two operatives who worked with him on Romney’s 2008 Iowa caucus campaign."

I think we now have the reason why the RNC was "tepid" in their support of the "Tea Party upstarts".

Steele should go if the GOP wants to be a majority. He has a tin ear and he’s not a good manager and leader.

However, gaining the majority is not likely the goal of the Rino controlled GOP. We saw that as the Rinos worked together to defeat Tea Party canidates, sacrificing the majority in the Senate. Steele did not have it within him to slap the Rinos down and win the Senate majority in spite of them.
