Despite a long and deep recession, the collective personal wealth of congressional members increased by more than 16 percent between 2008 and 2009, according to a study released Wednesday by the Center for Responsive Politics.
The steady also indicates that a significant number of members owned shares of major players in the health-care and financial-services sectors, which were the subject of major reform legislation during the period.
The findingsbased on federal financial disclosure data released earlier this yearpaint a wealthy bunch in Congress, with more than half of all members261were millionaires.
About one in five of those had average calculated wealth in 2009 of at least $10 million. Eight of the 261 were in the $100 million-plus range.

It’s so easy to do with all of the insider trading. They’re the only people who can get away with it.
Would be nice to see a list of the parties of those who own oil wells here and around the world. You can bet there are plenty of Dems in the oil well business. But, the Dems said we went to Iraq because of Bush's oil interests.
Bribes via endless illegal insider trading sweetheart deals.
We live in Argentina now.

” Then theres the curious case of Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.).
” The 2009 personal financial disclosure report of Stark (pictured right) seemingly indicates his average wealth figure dropped
by more than 368 percent from 2008.
But portions of Starks handwritten federal report are illegible, making an accurate analysis impossible.”
Gee , why am I not surprised ?
