Yeah, but can she win?

Ronald Reagan couldn't win, either.

But we need to go with Huckleberry McRomney again, because that works so well.

Here’ the deal on the 2012 Presidential election:

1) It is a referendum on Obama. If he is above 51% approval with Gallup in fall 2012 he will win. If he is below 47% approval he will not win a second term. And if he is between 47%-51% he is in no man’s land where anything could happen. If I had my druthers I would expect #2 or #3 scenario to be the case in 2012.

2) Here’s the straight dope:

Many polls are of a consensus that only 40% of the American electorate feel that Obama deserves re-election while over half do not.

The Democrats only received the vote of 37% of WHITE voters in the midterm election. The GOP got 60%. Even if Obama can rally more minority voters to come out in 2012, if the GOP duplicates that result the GOP nominee will win back the White House. In last week’s Gallup Weekly Summary Obama had slipped further back with WHITE voters at 33%.

Quite honestly, the only way Obama can win re-election as I see it now without any marked improvement in the economy is if a viable 3rd party candidate emerges (with the help of George Soros)to bleed white conservative votes away from the GOP nominee in 2012.

Notice I have not mentioned the name of the former governor of Alaska in my piece. That is deliberate. The 2012 will not be about her but the current occupant in the WH. If the American electorate decides to fire Obama they will vote for the former governor of Alaska, and yes some will do that even though they have misgivings about her. Do you think that everyone that voted for Reagan in 1980 were rock-ribbed conservatives or convinced he would be a good POTUS? The answer is no. But they were all convinced from what they heard Reagan say that he could be no worse than Carter.
