Former South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Alvin Greene has only the highest hopes for his political future despite his crushing defeat two weeks ago he thinks he will be the next president.
In an interview outside a Columbia, S.C. courthouse where he was being tried for allegedly showing pornographic material to a college-aged girl Greene said he would sue the Columbia Free-Times newspaper if he read an account of the legal proceedings.
Instead Greene suggested the media focus on his presidential potential before claiming to be the "greatest person ever."
Im the next president, Greene said. Ill be 35 just before November, so I was born to be president. Im the man. Im the man. Im the man. Greenes the man. Im the man. Im the greatest person ever. I was born to be president. Im the man, Im the greatest individual ever.
According the Free-Times account, Greene's lawyers were supposed to show to court at 9:30 a.m. and still had not arrived at the court by 2:30 p.m. Greene indicated he wanted to plead "not guilty" to the charges as well as a jury trial, which Assistant Solicitor Andrew Rogers said would not begin until after the holidays.
Dream scenario: Alvin Greene launches a serious primary challenge against Obama among black voters while Hillary mounts an insurgency from his right and Bloomberg runs as an independent. Total chaos in the Democratic Party!
What really worries me are these post-election data:
1) Close to 360,000 people voted for Alvin Greene over Jim DeMint.
2) 2% of Republicans in SC voted for Alvin Greene.
May their tribe decrease.
At least Mr. Greene served this country. If I had to choose between Mr. Greene and 0bama I would gladly and proudly vote for Mr. Greene.
Run Alvin, RUN!
His campaign slogan ought to be...
“Hey, I can’t do worse than Obama”
Mike
Sounds like a great opportunity for Rush and yet another sequel to Operation Chaos.
At least he’ll have Jim Clyburn’s vote.
“I am the greatest. I float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”
I'd vote for him over Obama.
Possibly we could say about him, “He did no harm”
Greene is heads and shoulders above most of the Democrats out there.
His “action figure” idea could at least help the toy industry, and boost at least one sector of private enterprise.
I suppose when Alvin Greene’s Presidential campaign has personnel changes, the press will accuse him of throwing folks “under the short bus”.
Badabing.
Scary, but could it have been a gag vote, since they knew DeMint would win? Kinda how a balding guy in my senior class actually WON the "Best Hair" category, everyone voted for him as a joke.
If this idiot had been nominated by a Republican every Democrat would have had Greene as running mate. The ‘Pubs did nothing.
Sorry. Should have been “the Republicans”.
At least Alvin is qualified. After all, we all know now that even a “community organizer” is qualified to be prez.
Is.............this...........the............guy.............who...........doesn’t...........think............quickly...........on.........his...........feet?
LOL. It’s tortuous listening to his interviews, must be awful being the interviewer! :-)
I would vote for Alvin Greene before I would vote for Liz Murkowski.
He's the crazy uncle no one mentions at the dinner table.
Just look good in a suit, as we used to say about bad engineers...
He served in the Army and has had some private sector experience...he is perhaps more qualified than the current occupant of that office. :)
You must have him confused with the white house occupant. It’s that or it’s just that Greene can’t afford a teleprompter.
