God bless this brave sergeant, and all who serve with him.

The first picture is anathema to me. Pres. Obama just looks, disgusted? constipated? I don’t know, just off. Maybe it’s a bad picture, maybe it’s a bad person.

Well done SSgt Giunta. Salute.

What strikes me are the glaring differences between the two.

SSgt. Giunta is humble, embarrassed by all the attention, almost miffed that his fellow squad members are not getting the same recognition, and saying that he only did what anyone in that situation would have done.

Meanwhile, the CIC wants to take credit for the sun rising in the morning.

Great soldier exemplifying the US Army code that no man gets left behind.

Go Army!

There were no pictures readily available of just him with the MoH on. To get one of him wearing it I had to include Zer0.

What is that light blue braid over the Sgt’s right shoulder? Just curious.

Infantry cord.

Note the blue coins behind his collar medals - all three, indicat infantry.

Also, his CIB - “Combat Infantry Badge”

Looks like a rifle with a wreath over it.

Oh, I meant no disrespect to you, the photos, or the honorable (and then some) Staff Sergeant.

Just can’t believe the plethora of ‘bad pictures’ of President Obama and his wife. Just amazing how many ‘bad pictures’ that include smirks, frowns, angry faces, horrible clothing choices, etc.

A Man, when in the presence of true greatness, feels honoured and privileged to be there.

A pusillanimous narcissist, when in the presence of true greatness, feels jealous and belittled.

I knew someone else would have the answer for you. Asking a former sailor about Army awards is not likely to get you the best results.

Note the blue coins behind his collar medals - all three, indicat infantry.

Please allow me a clarification: Those are not "collar medals". Those are the "U.S." and the Branch Insignia, in his case the Infantry Branch.

Also, his CIB - “Combat Infantry Badge”...Looks like a rifle with a wreath over it.

From the Institute of Heraldry:

Description

Combat Infantry Badge - A silver and enamel badge 1 inch in height and 3 inches in width, consisting of an infantry musket on a light blue bar with a silver border, on and over an elliptical oak wreath. Stars are added at the top of the wreath to indicate subsequent awards; one star for the second award, two stars for the third award and three stars for the fourth award.

Symbolism

The bar is blue, the color associated with the Infantry branch. The musket is adapted from the Infantry insignia of branch and represents the first official U.S. shoulder arm, the 1795 model Springfield Arsenal musket. It was adopted as the official Infantry branch insignia in 1924. The oak symbolizes steadfastness, strength and loyalty.

Award Eligibility

a. There are basically three requirements for award of the CIB. The Soldier must be an Infantryman satisfactorily performing Infantry duties, must be assigned to an Infantry unit during such time as the unit is engaged in active ground combat, and must actively participate in such ground combat.

Please allow me a clarification:

Picky, Picky,Picky

I recognize the big medal on the blue ribbon around his neck. That's the one every American will know him by for the rest of his life.

Yes - and salute him. It is required that every servicemember (including the CIC) salute anyone wearing a MOH.

But Dimbo let that little rule fly by him.

Not trying to be picky since there was a Navy guy wondering about Army uniforms and I thought it appropriate to provide the proper terminology.

That's the one every American will know him by for the rest of his life

Unfortunately, nearly half of "every American" are ingrates and are not even aware of who the real heroes are. To them, only celebrities deserve recognition.
