Congratulations everyone. You corrupted a process and promoted someone who was not as worthy as the person who was voted off.

You've pr oven that you don't believe in merit but you do believe in connections, favoritism and back-room deals.

And by what moronic conspiracy theory do some of you believe that "liberals" controlled who won? Are you suggesting that, in the past, the best dancers didn't go to the finals?

Frankly, I'm ashamed of you. It's not liberals who's heads are exploding. But rather it's everyone and anyone who believes in fairness, honesty and merit.

WTH? Bristol has improved every week, her Paso Doble was entertaining, but her waltz was outstanding....the only issue is that the liberals in HollyWood and the entertainment business expect their picks...whether its brandy or kyle or somebody else win, they feel entitle...

You don’t like the system?

Don’t blame those who who work within it. It was a honest win.

Reserve your anger and shame for those who set up the system.

I was so thrilled to see Bristol advance. She is a wonderful young lady and I just love her dances. She makes this mom want to take a dance class!! Personally I can’t get enough of this sweet Palin family.

I agree with you, andhave said so... I’m embarrassed. I think Bristol is too. If she wins this thing completely then there will be a backlash against Sarah...

The rules for DWTS voting........

VOTING -- HOW IT WORKS:

During the live shows, judges will give a score based on several factors, including technical execution. But the judges' scores alone do not decide a couple's fate.

Phone lines, text votes (AT&T customers only) and online polls will open at the top of each performance show so that viewers can vote for their favorites. Phone and text lines will stay open for 30 minutes after the end of the show. Online voting will remain open until 11am (Eastern Time) the next day.

In the Dancing with the Stars Results Show, the couple with the lowest combined score from judges and viewer votes will be eliminated from the competition. The scoring is divided evenly between the judges and the viewers at home, ensuring unpredictable outcomes at the end of every show. When the final two couples remain, the ultimate dance-off will determine who wins the trophy.

Viewers can vote via phone, text message or online for their favorites ONLY on the night they perform. FORMAT SUMMARY:

Lines open at the beginning of each show for viewers to phone and text vote for their favorite couples and stay open for 30 minutes after the end. The whole country can vote.

One (or more) couple(s) will be knocked out of the competition each week there is a results show. The couple with the lowest overall score is knocked out of the competition.

The scoring and format of the show is unique to the series and is not based on a standard dance championship. The decision regarding which dances are to be performed by each couple each week rests with the Producers.

THE PROCEDURE FOR ELIMINATING COUPLES:

Each week every couple receives points from the judges and votes from the public. For every couple we work out the share they got of the points given by the judges on the night, and the share they got of the public's votes on the night and we add these two shares together. The couple with the lowest combined total is eliminated from the show.

For example if couple A, B and C receive 38, 26 and 14 points from the judges, we calculate what share these points represent of the total awarded by the judges on the night. In this case the judges gave 78 points in total, and each couples' share of 78 points breaks down as follows: 38= 48.72% of78, 26= 33.33% of 78, 14= 17.95% of 78. Let's suppose that when the public votes are tallied, each couple has the following shares: A= 20%, B=40%, C=40%. To determine who's eliminated we combine these two shares for the total:

Couple A: 20+48.72%= 68.72%
Couple B: 40+33.33%= 73.33%
Couple C: 40+17.95%= 57.95%
In this case, the bottom two couples would be A and C, and C would be eliminated.

ONLINE VOTING REQUIREMENTS:
The Internet browser on user computers must allow cookies, have Javascript enabled and have the latest version of Flash installed in order to vote. If cookies and Javascript are disabled and Flash is not installed, users will be unable to access the online ballot.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

The criteria for the viewer vote is that it simply be their favorite.

Who cares what the reason is as to why.

I don't see a requirement that the vote go to the one deemed to be the best dancer.

Congratulations everyone. You corrupted a process and promoted someone who was not as worthy as the person who was voted off. well, to be fair, it is a popularity contest, not a professionally judged event. Brandy has sold a lot of CDs in her career, many more than some who I consider far more talented musically. See how it works?

Agree totally! They're ruining a perfectly good show all in the name of politics. I'd be surprised if it returns for another season. It's a DANCING competition! Bristol was certainly improving, but she was no way close to her competitors . Thanks to all of those voting her through they have probably caused her great embarrassment. She's not dumb, and I'm sure is well aware of what's going on. What a shame!

I read your post and knew you'd get flamed big time :). But, being a proponent myself of merit over most everything else, I more or less agree with your assessment. I'm always disappointed with these stupid talent/reality shows when those with more merit/talent are voted off ahead of others with less. Then I remind myself that they really aren't about talent/merit at all - that's just a backdrop. These shows are really just popularity contests - something most of the judges on these shows just don't seem to understand either. In that vein, it's refreshing that Bristol is still on, even if a better dancer left.

And another point. I think it was a cheap shot on Fox's part to pit Bristol against Brandy as the final two. They knew the results beforehand. They could just as easily have pitted Brandy against one of the other two. But, I'm guessing they were more interested in stirring up political resentment against Bristol and creating more controversy than they needed to. Ratings I guess.
