PROVO Did unreported factors contribute to the demise of Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign?
How did the news media cover the 1967-68 presidential campaign of his father, George Romney?
Two research projects presented to an audience of more than 100 people at BYU's Mormon Media Studies Symposium recently compared the two Romneys' campaigns.
BYU professors John Gee and Louis C. Midgley titled their paper, "Under the Media's Nose: Overlooked Factors Undermining the Presidential Campaign of Mitt Romney.

He stayed on message? What message was that? Socialized medicine, homosexual marriage, pro-abortion - you mean those messages?
BUSTED!
I didn’t know that the Romney discussion went only ONE way.
CRITICISM.
And yes, I have been and am a proud Freeper who will remain a RomneyBOTT but will do so quietly.
OK?
And in addition, would like to thank our gracious host, Mr. Robinson, for his time and generosity.

I don't own the place. You should address that question to the one who does.
Sounds like another mormon FReeploader to me! How interesting that these MFLs withhold their money from the site, but still consider using the site to be their privilege.
Mormon Article of Faith #13:
” Myth’s problem IS NOT his Mormonism, his problem is that he is a leftist abortionist who forced homosexual “marriage” on America and developed the prototype for Obamacare.
Myth did nothing more than pave the way for Zero. “
Toss in a few powerful RINO/big spending leaders in the Republican party.
My take....” N O Romney 100% of the time “
Exactly. But the the Mormon martyr types, it's because of his religion. They want it to be that so much that there's just no convincing them otherwise.
It's just so much more satisfying to play the poor persecuted minority victim and accuse others of *hate*.
It can leave one feeling so self-righteous.
Whether McCain or Romney is a bigger RINO is a matter of opinion and I doubt you'd find anything approaching a consensus view on this forum about the matter. Each is a RINO. It's not like Republicans had a conservative choice among the viable candidates. If Romney had truly been a conservative, he could have drawn support away from McCain. Why would anyone who was offended by McCain's RINOism turn to Romney?
X - I pinged you on this because you had raised a similar point earlier.
Indeed
He stayed on HIS message. Made no difference if it was true or not. Script.
Detective Graybeard,
The reason I didn’t know the topic “Romney” was verboten is because I have never ventured too far into the “Romney” threads because of the vitriol.
By-the-way, thank you kind sir for assembling my “Romney” postings in one place, bookmarked!
Kate
Mitt won’t be the nominee.
I don’t like his hair, his looks, his wardrobe, or his diet.
(If I mentioned his political liberalism I’d get blasted, so I’m playing it safe.)
:>)
"Detective"?
It didn't take a lot of detecting, you have a relatively short list of postings for someone who has been here for 12 years, that, in itself is neither good nor bad but your posting history is open for anyone who cares to look.
Did you ask the owner yet if it's alright to be a Romney supporter as I suggested, instead of asking me?
Your pro-Mormonism post plus your screen name are sort of blowing my mind :-) Sick!
Commenting solely on the screen name, I think he may be referring to the fact that buzzards return to Hinckley, Ohio around the Ides of March each year, much the same way as swallows return to Capistrano.
No, I'm not making it up. Google it. It's often a human interest story on television, trees full of buzzards and such.
The reverse could be asked: Why would anyone who was offended by Romney's RINOism turn to McCain? As for Romney, the one thing to me that gives him an advantage over McCain is his business-saving experience at Bain and his resurrection of the Salt Lake City Olympics. However, the old blue-blood Republicans won out and anointed McCain because they thought he was due. This same mentality is what gave us Bush Sr. (the anti-Reagan) in 1988 and Bob Dole ("I became a Republican because that's how you get elected in Kansas") in 1996.
Sounds like our Senator elect here in Illinois, except he doesn't bother to pretend to be conservative. (Mark Kirk).
A large percentage of the McCain supporters on this thread (including myself) admitted that we were holding our nose and voting for McCain because their were no better viable options.
However, the old blue-blood Republicans won out and anointed McCain because they thought he was due.
You mean the same establishment Republicans who are trying to force-feed Romney on us in 2012?
Bush Sr. (the anti-Reagan)
This confuses me. Why are you supporting Romney if this is a concern to you? The Romney family has a longer history of fighting the movement conservatives (including Reagan) than the Bush family.
