Again, there are a few troubling aspects of Orrin Hatch. But he's hardly a liberal or a moderate when it comes to most issues conservatives care about, and his 2009 ratings suggest he hasn't turned squishy-liberal in his old age.
Hatch is no RINO, and is actually a fairly reliable Conservative. His biggest problem, to me, is that he is so non-confrontational that he sometimes is totally lacking in spine.
However, it is clear he supports Romney (at least in large part) because of his Mormon religion.
Still, people need to fully grasp how difficult it is going to be to beat Mitt Romney.
