JACKSON, Miss. -- Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour says he's not setting any "artificial deadline" to decide whether he'll run for president in 2012.
Barbour has deflected questions for months by saying that as chairman of the Republican Governors Association he has been focused on getting his party's candidates elected.

The Haley Barbour Ping List
Let me know if you want on or off the list.
Not sure how good of a candidate he would be, but I tend to like the guy.
I like Barbour, but he lacks the youth and telegenicity that (unfortunately) a winning candidate needs with today's poorly informed and often disinterested electorate.
(I wish it weren't that case.)
.
I won't pretend that those aren't legitimate problems for him to overcome. That photo I use in association with The Haley Barbour Ping List...I probably looked at 100 photos of him trying to find one that looked halfway decent. I won't pretend Haley Barbour is the only candidate I could support (indeed I have a very high regard for Jim DeMint) but if he does run I would hope the electorate would be less superficial than we both fear they would be.
If he want to run for POTUS he’d been wise to go to a gym and hire a personal trainer. Physically he doesn’t look up to the job.
I'll vote for him.
I'll take a guy who enjoys a daily nightcap of Maker's Mark with his wife in the governor's mansion over some pinhead jogger.
He’s said that if we see him losing weight it should be taken as a strong hint he’s going for it !
Looks like a lot of Republicans are going to want to run in 2012 for President.

Doubtless true.

“I’ll take a guy who enjoys a daily nightcap of Maker’s Mark with his wife in the governor’s mansion over some pinhead jogger.”
It’s fine with me, but we’ve already seen what happened to Bob Dole and Fred Thompson. In 2012 it is vital that we win.
With respect, Barbour’s got more horse sense in political matters than those two.
One of the reasons I like Barbour as a candidate is that he has one of the better political minds out there. It would be nice to go through one presidential campaign where the GOP doesn't earn its nickname as the Stupid Party.
You can have a telegenic candidate but a smear campaign can quickly turn that into a negative (see: Dan Quayle).
Barbour can easily position himself as the anti-obama, a good ole boy from Yazoo City, Ms. with homespun charm and Huey Long instincts.
Of course, the State-run media will paint him out to be Bull Connor, but Haley’s more quick-witted than most.
He moves his feet around pretty good for a big guy.
My favorite was when he got Chris Matthews to admit Obama’s tax plan was welfare (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV0CqQKtoUM). Don’t know if some of the other potential candidates could deal with the media like that.
