Limited government except for the decisions I make in my personal life!

The conservative way!

I sent TPP a letter about this, and their “jump the shark” moment on the Republican Freshman will/won’t go to whichever club is running an orientation session, there are much bigger issues.

They don’t speak for me either, and I let them know that we are not under their controll, don’t need them (though I do appreciate some good they have done).

It looks like the Tea Party has already been infiltrated by Alinsky-esque provocateurs, who are trying to wreck it from within.

There is a growing structure. The TEA Party Patriots, an organization founded by Jenny Beth, is organized by state chapters, and each state having a state coordinator. What occurred with this damnable letter was several of these coordinators decided to commit their state to this doctrine. I have no idea whether the other groups in various states had any input into this letter, but I know for fact that our group did not, and having over 170 members, we are not inconsequential. We knew something was cooking along this line, but we were not given a chance for expressing our views.

I view this action as a power play, made by individuals who likely have designs on political office... Brown nosing at its worst in my opinion.

Social issues should be properly returned to states rights issues, not national issues

DADT is a National issue. I agree that everything else is State level.

Most Tea Party Groups realize the Tea Party movement is about limited government and fiscal issues. At the same time, most Tea Party People are social conservatives who realize social issues play an important role in the GOP and don't want that to change, even it they're non-partisan.

The groups who say otherwise are a very small percentage of the movement, and DO NOT speak for the Tea Party movement as a whole.

I don’t think the libs have a strategy so much as stating the obvious. Once you leave the basic message that resonates with the larger group, there will be infighting to no end. Look at what happens here. If anything I think you’ve understated the situation. My guess is there will be fractures over the next two years that will limit the effectiveness. On the naively optimistic side, some good will come of it. Up to Nov. 2 the focus was narrow and it seemed to me widespread with a focus on fiscal policy and limited government. Those days are behind us and various factions and factions within factions will be pulling in different directions. Keep is simple s... would be my suggestion.

We will never be rid of “these people.” Stay diligent. America can’t be restored to greatness with conservative economics alone. Our culture needs restoring too.

Great post.

Nothing will hurt the Tea Party movement more than eschewing social conservatism for “fiscal conservatism”.

I usually find that people who claim to be “Fiscal Conservatives” are usually neither.

My point is that a lack of morality led us to the edge of destruction. We are teetering on the edge of a social and economic collapse. Let’s get our asses back on solid ground economically or we run the risk of an era in which all the moral issues will be far in the back of your mind. Your mind will be focused on living through that day.I’m not using hyperbole. If I’m starving to death, I don’t give a damn where someone else puts their genitals. Unless of course it’s near me. In that case, the body attached to those genitals will not have a good day.

“The Federal government venturing into establishing religious and social belief structures is unconstitutional and divisive of the American people. The constitution leaves moral and social issues that touch upon spiritual values to the people, communities and States.”

Read the Constitution. Do you know why elections are held on a Tuesday? It was so farmers could make it to the polls without having to travel on a Sunday.

The first cause of the Constitution was the Declaration of Independence. Did it not base liberty on those inalienable rights endowed to man by his CREATOR?

Did that document not speciffically first enumerate LIFE as one of those inalienable rights?

So, then, your argument about federal impartiality to social issues trips over that fact and falls flat on its face.

BTW, what is the Constitution if it is not first a “social compact”

If you are going to argue about state sovereignty over cultural issues, then you had best be working to undo the 17th Amendment that gutted state’s rights. Or do you suppose I am naive of the present situation that makes the states agents of the federal power, rather than the constitutionally planned opposite?

Again, you CANNOT seperate morality from government, no matter what level of government you choose. WE are moral creatures. Thus we are inclined to desire moral leaders... or we sure as hell had best be if we desire to restore this truly republic, rather than just bring it up for a last gasp of air.

President John Adams took note that our Constitution is suited only to a MORAL and RELIGIOUS people, being wholly inadequate to govern anything less.
