Rep.-elect Allen West (R-Fla.) is defending his choice to hire a conservative radio host as his chief of staff, even after she turned down the job, saying the "liberal left" unfairly went into "attack dog mode."
“I was not hiring a talk radio host; I was hiring a very brilliant political mind, someone that has been in South Florida politics for 20-plus years,” West said in an interview with CNN on Sunday. “But unfortunately, the liberal left showed that I guess they are threatened and intimidated by me, and so they went into the attack dog mode, which is something that they did the entire time in our campaign.”
South Florida radio host Joyce Kaufman turned down the job after reports focused on her attacks on illegal immigrants.
West blamed liberals and the media for Kaufman’s decision and insisted that if he were a black Democratic congressman-elect rather than a Republican, the attacks on Kaufman would be viewed as “racism.”
“I guarantee you, if I was a black Democratic congressman-elect, they would not be doing these type of actions, and the fact that they're attacking a woman like this, that shows me something about sexism and misogynist behavior,” he said.

Several MSNBC hosts attacked West and this lady, which made me respect West even more.
Also in just skimming headlines, it sounds like the radio host was on the attack.

Then why did he drop her like a hot potato. This was a bad opening for West. No more biker chicks.
Kaufman said on her show the other day that she resigned. I think it’s funny, as a West supporter, that he crushed Klein by 8%, kept the hack from getting his Congressional pension, etc., and the left has it’s panties in such a wad about him that they are going after his staff picks. I can’t name a single Congressional staffer except Kaufman! Kaufman is mad; I think they may have messed with the wrong woman because she helped West a lot in this win. She could do the same for others.
