Must as I believe in respecting private property and First Amendment rights, I can’t find it in my heart to be outraged.
If I were a cop, I’d say the tire died “natural causes” and leave it at that.
Shortly after finishing their protest at the funeral of Army Sgt. Jason James McCluskey of McAlester, a half-dozen protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to their minivan Saturday, only to discover that its front and rear passenger-side tires had been slashed.
To make matters worse, as their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police.
Sweet!
The minivan finally pulled over several blocks away in a shopping center parking lot, where AAA was called. A flatbed service truck arrived and loaded up the minivan. Assistant Police Chief Darrell Miller said the minivan was taken to a Walmart for repairs.
Hmmm... sounds like we need to tip off/educate the folks at AAA and Walmart about the Westboro "Baptist Church"...
“They apparently drove over some glass in the parking lot” said the sheriff on learning of the incident
*shrug*
if only someone would fight to stop lawlessness and protect our way of life... now where could we ever find such people...

what a horrible town. i am moving there tomorrow.

Westboro protester’s van tires slashed at soldier’s funeral
“
As Tom Petty would sing:
“Don’t come around here no more.”
‘bout time.
“
It was bound to happen sooner or later.
“
I’d nominate you for post of the day...
seeing how this happened in The Sooner State!
I think they deserve the Urine Balloon treatment myself ,,,, only using GREEN balloons to be eco-friendly . This form of anti-personel weapon has proved to be very effective in scattering a crowd ,,, of course I would never advocate such resistance to these wacko protesters after all they are protected by an activist judge .
Can’t condone slashing tires, but it’s understandable that someone would do it. I do like that nobody would help them repair them, although with that situation a gay-owned garage offering to repair their tires for free would have been icing on the cake.
Don’t forget they are lawyers also.
So “nutjob lawyers” or “lawyer nutjobs” please

and, one assumes, they were traveling out of town, so it was a rental car. Maybe the rental company could charge them for replacing with tires that don’t conform to the rental company criteria.
Then the “perp” wears a lone ranger mask, and voila!, no one recognizes him/her.
Can't agree with you there. These people deserve to have a huge can of whoop-ass opened on them every time they show up to a funeral.
Given the fact that this “family cult” (almost all members are related) spends it’s time waving placards with slogans like “G*d Hates F*gs!” and the like, where are the militant GAY Organizations like “Act Up”? It is their lifestyle that is being besmirched, aren’t they offended? Instead they go the Roman Catholic Church Services and disrupt those. Of course it could be that it is too far for them to come from the left coast or the NYC-Boston areas.
Why do you think that? They will probably sue whoever it was that slashed the tires. I'm surprised they didn't have surveillance on their van just to catch people, so they could sue them. IT's how they make their living, suing people who lash out at them.
