OMG– This was horrific. And, this actually occurred in the United States. TSA screeners accosted a little 3 year-old coming through the airport. The poor little girl kept screaming, “Quit touching me!”

Since that’s what Free Republic is all about, I thought it an appropriate description.

SOmeone tries to blow up their shoes, suddenly we are all having our shoes checked.

I wonder what is going to happen when some frantic muslim is caught with a tube of C4 up his butt. Or better yet, a muslim woman with the C-4 in her vagina.

I wonder how searches will change.

>.It was a cranky kid being quickly patted down and having a tantrum over it.<<

Yep. It was the modern equivalent of the kid that said the emperor has no clothes. After seeing the video, a lot of us are getting some clarity of what is really going on here. A lot of frogs jumped out of the “slowly coming to a boil” water and are saying, “Holy cow, that water was hot!”

We may be seeing the beginning of the end of TSA intrusiveness with recent events, culminating in the release, at a very opportune time, if this old video.

Idiot parents should have turned around and departed...

They both should be jailed for child abuse for meekly standing by and permitting the perverts to have their way!

Just listening to the father as a mealy-mouthed newscaster clearly demonstrates the extent to which the citizenry have become bend-over-and-spread'em sheep...

NEVER? Your kids never had a tantrum? Seriously? Your three year old NEVER threw a fit? Because every child pushes limits, it’s how the adult reacts that makes a good kid.

How often did they get a stranger touching them all over? Mine, doctor only.

I think that’s what your are missing. Your children were never in this situation so you have no clue how they would react.

Oh, how did I know that you are a guy?

Ask the mother of your children. Every one has a tantrum from time to time.

Funny how there are multiple threads and opinions on this forum concerning the importance of the role of fathers, but somehow, in this case, being one "figures."

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again.

The 4th Amendment says, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated”.

Unreasonable.

Targeted searches can be reasonable, if based on facts and evidence. Searches targeting Muslims could be considered reasonable.

Searches of 100% of the people could be considered reasonable under some immediate emergency conditions for limited periods of time.

But there is no way at any point in time that random searches are reasonable. That is a fact that any lawyer worth his/her salt should be able to argue with passion and competence.

I mean, the other side of the issue only has this basic argument: There is a continuing threat that someone will try to smuggle an effective bomb onto an airliner. Therefore, if we randomly select passengers to search with these new methods, we might get lucky and search someone with a bomb.

But because that reasoning will never be accepted by any court, I will continue to drive rather than fly. A two-day car trip for a single person doesn’t cost much more than an airline ticket, and if two people are making that trip, it’s considerably cheaper to drive.

Thank you for posting the 4th. There are some people of Freerepublic that forget we stand for the Constitution. The liberals have just outed themselves on FR.

This doesn’t seem to be a recent event. A quick look would show that the uniform worn by the agent is not the one they currently wear. How old is this video?

Of course fathers are important. Very important. I have no clue where you got that I said fathers are not.

However, when a father states that his children never had a tantrum, it makes one wonder where the father was during the children’s second and third years. Maybe mom handled all of it and you were not aware of what she was going through?

I have to disagree with those who conclude that this is a spoiled child behaving badly. I see a child in panic ... and I raised three daughters.

The importance of fathers is not the issue. Your statement of "how did I know you were a guy" in 207 and subsequent reassertion in the last post seemed to suggest I was either unaware or uninvolved due to the fact I happen to be male. I suppose I could conclude that's projection on your part, based on the actions of netmilsdad, but that would be ridiculously presumptive and probably incorrect on my part. Same case with your line of thought.

In some aspects, I was very lucky. They never had problems with teething, illness, discipline, or many of the other usual childhood issues. However fortunate, I'd like to think we, as parents, also had something to do with that.

When I was 19, I witnessed a child misbehaving terribly in public. The mother took the child aside and stated very calmly, but authoritatively with finger in face, "Even on my weakest days, I'll always be stronger than you." Kid never made a peep after that.

I don't know what was more surprising: The fact that it actually worked for her, or that the philosophy helped me 8 years later.

Admitting that 8 years later your child had a tantrum. Good for you. Every child has tantrums. It's not that hard to admit. And being touched by a stranger IN the middle of that tantrum, is difficult for a three year old.

That was the point you overlook there Dad.

She was carrying a suspicious and possibly dangerous teddy bear?

Actually, apparently her ticket was ‘coded’ for the special security patdown

My child was born 8 years later, not having tantrums. You’re hearing what you want to hear and are past the point of boring me. Thanks. It’s been enlightening.

It sure has!
Those reading this thread have seen a parent with perfect children judge a three year old.
