(NASDAQ: OSIS), a vertically-integrated provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, today announced that Deepak Chopra, Chairman and CEO, was selected to accompany US President, Barack Obama, to Mumbai and attended the US India Business Entrepreneurship meeting, which was held by the US India Business Council (US IBC). The goal of the meeting was to promote further trade between US and India.

Rapiscan Systems is the manufacturer of the controversial “naked body scanner” purchased for US airports with economic stimulus funds. OSI systems, Inc., owns Rapiscan Systems.
Former head of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff is a lobbyist for Rapiscan Systems.

Deepak Chopra is the New Age guru, international peacenik and former doctor who’s outfit has been cranking out a new-age title every four months since 1987. He recently decided to make some more publicity for himself by sticking his big, fat oar in the War on Terror.
I don’t see anything on his website or wiki page to indicate that he’s the same guy as this Deepak Chopra, CEO of OSI Systems, Inc.
Either way, I’m sure that the forcing of these naked body scanners on us has nothing to do with the devices’ own merits. In the Obama business world, it’s all about connections, what the Chinese call “guanxi”.

Probably looking for a lucrative contract to equip the hundreds and thousands of Indian airports and public stations with these X-ray scanners.
