Washington - Afghan President Hamid Karzai, in an interview published Sunday, called on the United States to scale down its military activity in his country. 'The time has come to reduce military operations,' Karzai said in an interview with the Washington Post newspaper. The president said the Afghan population was unable to cope with the massive international military presence and wanted to see an end to the 'intrusiveness' of the soldiers in daily life.

Could it be he’s made a deal with the Taliban?
We should quickly scale down to zero and let him deal with it.
I have to agree with Karzai.
It’s long time since we should’ve left this hell hole.
Yes.
He’s really made a deal with Obama. Reading Woodward’s book Obama’s Wars makes it clear that Bambi wants out of there starting swift drawdown in July 2011 to be able to run on “I got us out”. He does not care about winning or trying to stop Taliban. He forced military to buy into only defeating Al Qaeda (who are all now in Pakistan or tribal border regions), and to let Taliban reintegrate into Afghanistan. Thus, back to Afghanistan after Taliban swooped in to fill power vacuum when Soviets left and before Bush KO’ed Taliban for giving safe haven to Al Qaeda. No more freedom. Back to burkas for women. Public executions for infidels.
Fine! We should immediately remove all our troops, contractors, and FUNDS from Afghanistan.
As we leave, Karzai (and the rest of the Afghan people) should be warned: If we have to come back, there won’t be a single living creature within your borders. And MEAN it!
You know, FRiend, I really couldn't care less. Afghanistan's internal affairs are really none of our problem.
Sounds like a good exit strategy for anywhere we go to war.
Withdraw Karzai’s personal security detail.
Not precisely what the head thief said.
We’d also be turning our back on the festering boatload of Islamic radical training in Pakistan border region to wage attacks against the USA homeland. Is that also no problemo for you? We need a staging area to wage battle against those nuts.
I ask Islam to scale back Jihad.
“I really couldn’t care less” There is a difference between I care and I sent the US military. If you don’t care you have allot in common with liberals.
Okay, sure.
How about you scale down the Taliban...
“You know, FRiend, I really couldn’t care less. Afghanistan’s internal affairs are really none of our problem. “
Afghanistan is a tribal country ruled by tribal warlords.
It is not possible to “civilize” a region that does not want to be civilized.
All we are doing there is getting our troops killed and spending money we don’t have. We have no business being there.
The Democrats kept saying that this was the “right” war to be fighting simply to beat the Bush administration with it. Now we are there and our idiot of a President hasn’t a f***king clue as to what to do next.
If we are SERIOUS about this problem, we need to address it: Immediately, forcefully, and PERMANENTLY!
This “nation building” bullsqueeze is a waste of time, money, and American lives.
We need to mind our own business. If our business requires us to kick some @$$, lets do it and get it over with. Leave the aftermath for the Afghani/Iraqi/any other people to deal with on their own terms.
Not what I wanted to read as I sit here in Kyrgystan waiting for a flight out to Bagram. Between this and the new mind set of gaining “Trust and Confidence” so that we can no longer do night ops without jumping thru hoops, I’m beginning to think the fix is in on this war. If you won’t let us fight to win, then send us home before any of my guys get killed.
I think we need to go back to “Shock and Awe” and show these people we mean business. The rest will take care of itself.
I care deeply about the brave men and women we sent there to destroy the taliban and al queda. I want them to come home.
We should NOT keep our people in harms way just to try to “civilize” a Nation that has been a total mess for all of its history.
We are NOT the world’s policeman or social worker.
