Jindal has criticized the administration in the past over the spill, but that he would do so at the outset of his book suggests he wants to raise his national profile and perhaps seek national office. Politico makes this sound like a purely political move on Jindal's part rather than an accurate portrayal of history.

Jindal in 2010 refused to endorse Senator Vitter, who defeated the Democrat Charlie Melancon by a larger percent than Jindal won in 2007.
