Where is the missle exhaust to the ground?
Over the horizon?
35 miles out?
60 miles out?
Several years ago those living near the coast were treated to codwhalloping sonic booms, from San Diego to Point Dume and beyond for all I know. It sure sounded like a sonic boom, but FedGov, Air Force, Coast Guard and anyone else in “authority” insisted that it was unusual acoustic conditions funneling the sound of practice bombing from San Clemente island. One window-rattler was labeled a seismic event, which around here is not too unbelievable.
Face it, the government sometimes does things in secret.
This contrail was also very far off, and the pilot ZOOMED in, which further distorts our ‘perception’ when viewing it, especially when the object is coming ‘at us’.
Why do people see the top of the mast of a ship coming in from offshore, before they see the actual ship itself?
Is the ship ‘rising’ from the bottom?
Only looks that way because they are south of the Equator.
OK, I will now clear this up for everyone.
The whole thing is Bush’s fault.
Now, back to our regularly-scheduled program, “Timmy and his Tinfoll Hat”.
Where are the pilots in the area who saw this thing swoosh by them at mach whatever?
Where are the people in the ships/boats who saw this thing arise from the horizon with a horrible roar?
Where are the people rushing to the Entertainment Tonight cameras with their stories.
This is LA folks. These guys get excited about LiLo.
The lack of excitement from the surrounding ground makes me think that either everyone is braindead out there (a possibility, but coming from MA I tend not to throw stones) or nothing unusual happened.
I am only guessing
as is nearly everyone
but as the object appears to get smaller and smaller until it vanishes,
then I would say it is obliquely moving away from us.
‘the bathroom’s broken!’
Amazing how someone can get instant fame in our mobile upload society. They should be nominated for the Pulitzer.
The "missile":
Same angle, same time, next day: US Airways Flight 808:

in virtually EVERY aircraft contrail, one can discern strands from multiple engines near the origin of the condensate. Also there is generaly a short gap between the aircraft and the beginning of the contrail the space where the moisture in the engine exhaust is too hot to condense In this photo, there appears to be one unified exhaust plume.
Yes
This was also pointed out earlier ... there are many points about a contrail (condensation trail) that do not match up with this exhaust plume of smoke.
Doug Richardson, Janes Military Magazine Missile Expert Tells You the Truth: Ballistic Missile, No Doubt
Doug Richardson, the editor of Janes Missiles and Rockets examined the video for the Times of London and said he was left with little doubt.
Its a solid propellant missile, he told the Times. You can tell from the efflux [smoke].
Richardson said it could have been a ballistic missile launched from a submarine or an interceptor, the defensive anti-missile weapon used by Navy surface ships.
Yet CBS Bullshit News says:
The best guess right now is that it was either an airliner or an amateur rocket, but we may never know for certain.”
Haha.
I did not get to the bottom of your article, but if it were an EMP device, the cel phones all of these passengers were using would have been disabled.
There was a fire. Kind of hard to hide that.
And I don’t think it was the chicks on the boats that set off a missile.
China is not going to shoot at us over the QE2. They will walk away from the bond market, and dump some bonds. Sending an economic shot across our bow is more meaningful these days. And a lot more safe. You do not tend to respond with nukes if someone jacks up your interest rate.
I wish everyone would quit being such Alex Jones acolytes.
Dec. 31 2009 airplane contrail:
Same contrail, different view:
I gave up on these yesterday. I was even told that these forums were not about fact-finding. They exist only to argue opinions. Evidence based on hear-say is strongest. 'I heard this guy call in on the radio say it was a missile. He should know since he said he had worked in missiles'! Or, 'I was on a blog and most of the dudes there are experts and they believe it was a missile'.
Some doofus on Hannity last night said it was a “toy rocket”...
That is a missile launched from a submerged submarine. I have seen several launches and this photo is exactly like the launches I saw.
Thanks
No
What you have there seems to be a contrail coming at us from over a mountain top, straight towards us.
It is an illusion.
Smoke coming out of the back of a rocket is what we see in the video, the enlargements etc.
Have you read the dozens with missile expertise what do not agree with the ridiculous contrail idea?
Janes? Is he to be deceived by an airliner contrail???
Here is the comment just above:

But perhaps he is a foolish FReeper too.
