NEW YORK (CBS 2) Did you see it? Chopper 2 HD sure did.
It was a bizarre, glowing red-hot streak in the sky right at sunset Wednesday moving briskly behind the Manhattan skyline.
CBS 2 reached out to a top astronomer who looked at the video. He said it looks beautiful, but that is was like nothing more than whats known as a contrail condensation from a commercial or military jet.
The aliens, apparently, are not coming.
The sighting came one day after a mysterious condensation trail was spotted off the coast of California. Speculation over the object that caused it ranged from a fired missile to a contrail from a commercial airliner.
Most experts now believe an airplane caused that vapor trail.

Goodness....gracious...great balls of fire
Several years ago. driving home from an eye exam of all things, I witnessed what appeared to be a ball of fire streak across the sky. I was sitting at a stoplight and really expected to see or hear an explosion (thinking it was an aircraft).
Before I left the light, another one went by.
I believe the consensus that time was meteor fragments or ice entering the atmosphere.
It was surreal
Will
Yes, right after I saw the smoke on the water............ /deep purple
Relax Folks.
It was just the Starship Enterprise ,caught in time warp, propelled into the past, plunged into a low orbit and using warp drive to get into a higher orbit as seen in Tomorrow Is Yesterday Episode #19!!

Smoke on the Water was based on a real life event. The Casino in Montreux which is situated right on Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) had caught fire.

This is one of most spectacular areas of Switzerland, for those of you interested in ever visiting there. They also have palm trees planted along the lake on the Swiss side (France and the French Alps are on the south side), so gives you an idea of the climate. You can take a bout tour across the lake to Evian (I’ve even played golf there). Within a reasonable drive you can travel through wine country (Aigle) to Gruyere (famous cheese). There is an old castle as well as a cheese musuem that you can visit.
It was a weather balloon. Move on.
ROFL!
That´s my guess: meteor.
I just saw Spiderman.
No, really, I did.
He was swinging off of this one building with that webbing stuff...
It was pretty cool.
!5 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. Please tell me it picks up eventually...
Is it just me, or are CBS helicopters from coast to coast filming inexplicable contrails on a daily basis??
Century 6, Quatrain 97 - translation into English:
At forty-five degrees, the sky will burn,
Fire approaches the great new city,
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Normans.
I'm starting to think that the next one we see will be a video of a CBS news helicopter pilot saying, "You've been punked!"
when clinton was in office, planes fell from the sky, but... there was no terrorism, just... accidents. Funny, when Bush was president, it stopped. Now dems are in charge, and now we have missiles that are not missiles, flying around in airspace. Good luck you fliers out there. But it’s not terrorism
The idiot Mayor their was seen chasing it try and tax it and check the salt content.
