Paul Farhi of the Washington Post reports on Tina Feys acceptance speech for the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
In her acceptance speech, Fey touched on her best-known bit her Palin imitation and offered some mock hands-across-the-political-divide commentary. The rise of conservative women in politics, she said pointedly, is good for all women, unless you dont want to pay for your own rape kit . . . unless youre a lesbian who wants to get married to your partner of 20 years . . . [or] unless you believe in evolution.
The lines played first to nervous laughter and then to not much laughter at all.
Not a good sign when you bomb at a humor-awards ceremony.

Tina is doing a horribly worn-out and really not funny parody of a wonderful woman.Conservatisism brought us Margaret Thatcher and Sarah Palin.
Liberalism brought us Nancy Pelosi and Corrine Brown.
Why any woman thinks liberalism is a good thing is beyond my ability to comprehend.
I believe it comes down to abortion rights for liberal women.

It needn't be, but several things will have to happen to rescue it from the bitter, superficial irrelevance to which Fey seems determined to condemn it. First, Palin will have to be elected. Comedians don't make careers out of mocking private citizens. Second, Fey will have to understand her target a little better. She needs to understand Palin as a theater critic needs to understand a play. What she's doing right now is attempting to satirize a one-dimensional caricature, which is why nobody but Palin's enemies (and not the brighter ones) is laughing at the moment. Thirdly, she needs to grow up a little and become a human being instead of merely playing one. Best of luck with all that.
Comedian Rich Little managed it with respect to Richard Nixon. It absolutely can be done, but at the moment it will take a woman of quite a bit more character than Fey displays to manage it. IMHO, of course.

It could be that it's the only real attention she ever got...you know what narcissists these liberals be....
She's turned a once-funny satire bit into character assination. To her, the impression was just a new angle to draw attention to the left's assault on Sarah Palin.
May she fall back into the has-been, dust-bin.

unless you dont want to pay for your own rape kit "I don't get it..."
One of the lefty lies about Palin is that to cut the budget as Mayor she required rape victims to pay for their rape kits to save the city money.
It's totally false, along with the lie that she asked the public library to burn certain books, or that Trig is actually Bristol's son (kinda obvious now).
The left has told so many lies about her they are totally unhinged...

I’ll start worrying about Sarah Palin when she starts imitating Tina Fey.

Her Palin routine was slightly humorous the very first time. The second time it was stale.
Now it is pathetic.
I watched a movie “Date Night” with my wife, and it was the first time I ever saw her in a movie...I was completely underwhelmed. The movie had about three funny parts in it.

I think she means that under Obamacare the taxpayers will be paying for the rape kits, therefore they will be free!/s;)

I have to disagree. The drug “humor” of John Belushi wore very thin by 1978. The best years IMHO, were the Hartman/Carvey years of the 80s and 90s. Sure they were leftist, but not all the time.
