It needn't be, but several things will have to happen to rescue it from the bitter, superficial irrelevance to which Fey seems determined to condemn it. First, Palin will have to be elected. Comedians don't make careers out of mocking private citizens. Second, Fey will have to understand her target a little better. She needs to understand Palin as a theater critic needs to understand a play. What she's doing right now is attempting to satirize a one-dimensional caricature, which is why nobody but Palin's enemies (and not the brighter ones) is laughing at the moment. Thirdly, she needs to grow up a little and become a human being instead of merely playing one. Best of luck with all that.
Comedian Rich Little managed it with respect to Richard Nixon. It absolutely can be done, but at the moment it will take a woman of quite a bit more character than Fey displays to manage it. IMHO, of course.

To be funny, satire needs to have a solid basis in reality. But Tina Fey is doing satire based on stuff that Palin never did or said (evolution/rape kit). As for the lesbians getting married, Obama says he doesn't believe in gay marriage either. Of course, Fey probably realizes Obama's lying about that. But more to the point, the comment about lesbian marriage might be legitimate as a critique of a policy position, but it isn't funny. At all.
