Michele can now concentrate on legislation, and may be thinking about perhaps running for the Senate in 2012 against Klobuchar (although she may prefer to wait until 2014 for the lower-hanging fruit, Al Franken).

Goldwater, you nailed the correct answer. She made her move and made her presence known. She deferred to an equally conservative peer. She honorably folded her tent and lives to fight another day. She also probably got some juicy concessions for pulling back.

Bachman is a smart cookie and knows strategery just as well a Palin and isn't afraid to employ it.

Bad strategery would have been to remain in the race for the leadership position and end up in a nasty divisive fight in which nobody would win.
