Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann dropped out of the race for House Republican Conference chair on Wednesday night, ensuring that the GOPs leadership elections will go on without any serious competition.
In a statement sent to a handful of reporters Wednesday evening, the tea party favorite said that Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling has her enthusiastic support for his candidacy for the top messaging post in the GOP.

That is too bad. The establishment lives, down with Cantor.
LOL I suppose Bachmann will now be called a RINO around here.
I can’t imagine that anybody got to her.
Wonder why she dropped out?
Establishment wins.
I think Bachmann has a bright future -
Just Damn! MB is the best!
The GOP leadership really owes the Tea Party something. Looks like their memory is pretty short.
Wonderful news. They both are terrific conservatives, and it’s good to see that they are not going to allow the media to divide them and have them fight each other. I also think that the GOP leadership in the House should be as conservative as possible, but not flashy and polarizing (at least not because of personality). This would deny the Dems a target like we have in Pelosi and Obama.
This will allow Bachmann to do what she does best, be the partisan conservative that debates the MSM, without having her partisanship turn off the squishy middle, as would happen if she is part of the GOP leadership.
Sometimes it is better to be outside the fray. That way one does not contaminate oneself when the establishment screws up.

No, but she is nicer than they deserve.
I truly think that they aim to beat us, not bond with us.
Yeah, that's what we want. An election without competition. LOL. I think that's called a coronation. A ruling class coronation.
Whip count, I guess.
“Establishment wins.”
If that means “establishment wins” and Hensarling gets the job, and that is a bad thing?
He is excellent.
Long-run good thing - need to let the Establishment Republicans hang themselves.
Why? Because she lost her leadership bid, and what do you have against "around here"?
if she won, she’d be part of the establishment. Now she is free to just be herself.
