New Hampshire has many attractions, from natural beauty to relatively low unemployment.
But for some, its the Live Free or Die image that has them packing up the moving van and heading to the Granite State.
In addition to an active state Libertarian Party, New Hampshire is home to several growing pro-liberty organizations that share many of the same ideals.
These include the Free State Project and the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance, which take different approaches to the same goal: more freedom.
And then theres Free Keene, a loosely arranged group of local residents whove caused quite a stir in recent months, most notably by playing a drinking game during a City Council meeting in August, which was the groups way of protesting the citys open container law.
Although the participants said they werent actually drinking beer, two members of the group were arrested during the meeting when they refused to let police inspect their beverages.
Free Keene often protests what participants call victimless crimes, such as public drinking and drug possession.
Free Keene member Heika M. Courser, 26, of Keene joined the group in June almost by accident, she said.
I met some regulars (of the group) through work and started hanging out, she said. I met all these other people, and it was very cool, very fun, and we shared a lot of views and values.

When I lived there is was just the opposite. NH was a very conservative state that was in the process of being ruined by liberals moving in from outside. I left in 1998.
you fail to mention the fascist laws that make a crime for 19-year olds to drink in bars, etc. Until they are allowed to drink indoors, allowing the rest of us to drink outdoors would seem like an assault on Social Justice.
Drink Globally, Act Locally.
I don’t see Libertarianism as ‘conservative,’ nor as ‘liberal,’ but as a hybrid of the two.
I agree. I lived there for many years, got my Bachelors from UNH. Left in 1986.
It was always a very conservative state when I lived there.
But like many conservative states with low taxes (almost nonexistent in fact) like MA, liberals flee their state, then begin to impose their social and fiscal views on others. Their population grows and they start voting in Democraps.
Nowadays, you have MA liberals moving in next to farms up there, then after living for a year or two and saying nothing, start complaining about dust and the smell of fertilizer.

No Free Keene way!
If u want to know what's turning NH liberal look at the New Yorkers and Vermonters moving there. Luckily, we have free staters fighting their socialist takeover.
...or the fascist laws that prohibit 9 year olds from prostititution...
lol. Believe me, thats where some of the libertarians are going.
I heard that from a person in NH a few years ago. It was great then was being ruined by leftists.
Does this Living Free include free love with hippy chicks? If so - count me in.
I will put flowers in my hair and carry the Federalists Papers in my backpack.
The free State project is about establishing a constitutional voluntary society in NH where the government only exists to protect life, liberty and property.
How in the heck can you make such a STATEMENT? YOU do not reside in NH you freak STATE clown?
