If the purpose of education was to actually educate people, the entire college curriculum could be filmed, uploaded to YouTube and watched by the entire world for free.

That’s a technology that’s only recently become available. And even then, you need interaction with others to properly learn. Anyway, it has been done in the UK for a very long time - check out
