Holding signs reading "Free my Future" and "Stop Education Cuts," up to 50,000 students stomped through the streets of London today, protesting both a tuition hike and deep cuts to the education budget.
The protests turned violent Wednesday afternoon with protesters and police fighting in front of the Conservative Party's headquarters, the Millbank Tower.
Students shattered the glass windows of the tower and hundreds occupied the building for a time. Activists threw water, paper, and even a fire extinguisher from the roof of the political headquarters

Firstly, it is not a case that everybody else is “skating by without serious revisions in whatever it is they are getting”. What really makes this a kick in the teeth for the students is that they have been coddled and protected from economic reality for years. Decades even. They will still be way better off than US students in terms of tuition fees and other costs if and when this goes thru. What is causing the ill feeling is the scale of the increase, even though the overall cost is still heavily subsidised.
That’s a technology that’s only recently become available. And even then, you need interaction with others to properly learn. Anyway, it has been done in the UK for a very long time - check out
