Palin wows the crowd at Bucks County fund-raiser

PLUMSTEAD - Sarah Palin wasted no time Tuesday night teasing her audience of supporters at a fund-raiser for Plumstead Christian School. After an alumnus of the private school, north of Doylestown in Bucks County, finished an uplifting performance of "God Bless America," she coyly asked him, "Would you like to sing that at an Inauguration?"

It was just what the crowd of more than 400 people wanted to hear. For an hour, the audience of students, parents and alumni listened as the former Alaska governor delivered a speech that was part homespun tales from the Palin household and part hardball tea party politics.

At the end of her program, the school's chancellor, Dean Whiteway, returned to the question on everyone's mind: Under what circumstances would she consider running for president?

"Goodness gracious," Palin answered. "I'm speechless."

She said it would take "prayerful consideration and polling of my family" before she would make up her mind on whether to run in 2012. "I would be in it to win it," Palin said. "I wouldn't do it just to shake things up." She added, "I would certainly have to put a lot more thought into it than what I could give you today."

Plumstead Christian, a K-12 school founded as a Mennonite school in 1948, invited Palin to speak as part of its Founders Forum. Palin, who was paid for her appearance, spent the day with students and participated in a $750-a-person fund-raising dinner for the school earlier in the evening at the Cock 'N Bull restaurant in Lahaska. Tickets for her presentation cost $75 to $250.

Palin said the country's heritage was built on Judeo-Christian values and was "nothing to apologize for."

"Faith must be welcomed in the public square and not shunned," Palin said. And when asked by a student during questions if she would support a tax-credit for parents who send their children to Christian schools, she said, "Absolutely."

Dorothy Ciavarelli, of Chestnut Hill, who drove to the speech with her husband, Gennaro, declared Palin "fabulous." She said it was refreshing to hear a politician speak so unabashedly about "patriotism and spirituality" and would like to see her make a run for the White House.

Her husband was less sure. "She needs more seasoning," he said. "The country is not ready for her firebrand."

For her visit to Plumstead Christian, the student body presented Palin with a gift: a teapot.

"Would you like to sing that at an Inauguration?"

And yet, Freepers keep telling me that she won't run, because she's doing so much better now than she would be in the White House.

I imagine it's going to be a heavy decision for her and her family and she won't make it for another 9-12 months. But if she runs I pity the fool that goes against her.

Thought about going to that, tickets were expensive, but good for her she helped raise a lot of money for the school.

I like her, but this whole Palin for President thing, not seeing it. When we have Christie and Jindal, who are serious people who can win (and we NEED to win in ‘12 or there's going to be nothing left of this country) we don't need to run Sarah. Secretary of the interior would be good for her.

***************************

The GOP hacks and toadies have offered more resistance and put downs to the Tea Party and to Palin in the last week than they have to the Democrats in the past two years.

“Would you like to sing that at an Inauguration?”

She has to run. It is going to be the mother of all battles with the Dems in front of her and the backstabbing GOP Establishment trying to undermine her. She got a real crash course in their tactics in 2008 and has seen their treachery on full display from sea to shining sea.

She will have to win it as Reagan did, with little Washington support (I remember him travelling around with just Paul Laxalt), but she has the base and the Tea Party solidly behind her. Her instincts are the best I have ever seen. She should never not trust her own instincts, which are better than any political advice she could get.

She can win the nomination. The 1980 campaign proves it.
She can win the general election. The resounding repudiation of Obama and his henchman in swing states like Florida, Ohio, New Mexico, and Virginia and even blue states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, proves that there are substantially more than 270 electoral votes within her grasp. The 2010 Tea Party sweep of Congressional races across the country proves that she can win in 2012.

If she runs the kind of campaign of which she is capable, she can win in spite of the GOP Establishment opposition which she is sure to face, EVEN AND ESPECIALLY IN THE GENERAL ELECTION(After all, Reagan faced a RINO third party in John Anderson which drew 7% of the vote; he still won 51% and 44 states). She doesn’t need to do anywhere near as well as Reagan in 1980 to win easily.

They're fearful, very fearful, because they just can't seem to slow down the steam-roller that is Sarah Palin and the popular support that keeps growing for her no matter what type of mud they throw at her.

So Palin isn’t “serious”? If you don’t want her then don’t vote for her in the primary but she should at least be allowed to compete. The more candidates in the primary the better...

That's just my point though, in an odd way obambi is going to benefit from his own failings if we nominate Palin. People now know that HE wasn't ready, next time people are going to want to replace him with someone that they KNOW is ready from day 1. Sorry, but that's not Palin.

IMHO Sara is absolutely correct in whom she has to consult with.

The 2008 campaign and the following two years have taught her exactly what her family will have to endure if/when she runs for President. I don't she is worried about what the MSM and leftist will throw at her - it is, unfortunately, part of the entrance fee in today's political world. She is willing to pay it.

However, until the rest of her family is ready to pay the same entrance fees she isn't going to subject them to any more “arrows and limp wrist slaps” that she has to.

GOOD for her. If this is the action of a firebrand where is that fire so we can get more like her?

a) You're saying Sarah isn't serious?

b) How can they win? Where are their national organizations? Who is begging them to run?

Geez, how can she show her face in public after the way she blew the election for control of the Senate? Are you really going to make put a sarc tag on that?

“When we have Christie and Jindal, who are serious people who can win...”

Christie could make it.

Jindal won’t. Jindal was punked by Obama and the feds during the oil spill. If he won’t defy a metrosexual affirmitive action empty suit to protect his state and people, he has no business defending America from the likes of serious and active enemies or even rivals. Ditto Jeb Bush, who was punked by a district court judge.

However, getting punked seems to be what the GOP does best.

Christie, who is a moderate and weak from a conservative perspective on Guns, Global Warming, Socialized HealthCare, is not an option for POTUS.

If you think Governor Palin needs seasoning or isn't ready, Jindal is way worse.

Neither of those two you mentioned have a chance in hell of winning.

After seeing Jindal’s response to the State of the Union last year, I was NOT impressed. He fell very flat with that little speech. I don’t think he can win.
