The NOTAM, or a request from the Navy to the FAA to produce the NOTAM (I forget which) was reproduced in James Sanders' Downing of TWA Flight 800. Before that I saw it on the internet at one or more sites that focused upon TWA 800.

you wrote, “This is quite different from TWA800. There were NOTAMS for that.”
I asked where you read that.
“The NOTAM, or a request from the Navy to the FAA to produce the NOTAM (I forget which) was reproduced in James Sanders’ Downing of TWA Flight 800. Before that I saw it on the internet at one or more sites that focused upon TWA 800.”
Here’s what I saw ‘on the internet’:
“Federal Aviation Administration officials said yesterday the only NOTAM for that particular area came after TWA Flight 800 exploded, when a Navy plane in the vicinity was asked to circle over the wreckage until rescue vessels arrived.”
Do you think the Navy shot down TWA 800?
