Imagery from WSR-88D sites would seem to be next to useless in observing this event, with scan-data (volume scan data) only available every 10 mins or so ... there is an outside chance one of the ‘volume scans’ caught some of the missile/contrail.
The WSR-88D’s out there seem to have been in clear-air mode at the time from what little RADAR imagery I’ve looked at so far.
Oh come on, we all know it was caused by a tree branch on a power line.
