One strong memory we have, of his homecoming, was going to dinner at a very nice downtown Seattle Restaurant (He was in uniform), as we were seated the diner's broke out in applause, we had several people come over to thank him, someone anonymously bought us the first round of drinks, the restaurant comped an appetizer and waived the corkage fee (I had brought a wine I had been saving for just such an occasion.
It was a beautiful evening, in many ways!
