Bush Recalls Graphic Pro-Life Moment: Mom Showed Me Her Miscarried Fetus in a Jar
The Blaze ^ | NOVEMBER 8, 2010 | Jonathon M. Seidl

Over the last week, excerpts of George W. Bush’s Monday-night interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer have shown a candid former president. But if a new excerpt obtained by the New York Post is any indication, the George W. Bush we may see tonight isn’t going to hold much back, and it could get graphic.

According to the Post, Bush will recall a detailed story about what set him down the path to becoming pro-life. That story includes his mother, Barbara, preserving and showing a young George one of her miscarried fetuses. From the Post:

Is the miscarried fetus kept in the jar next to the skulls.< /sarcasm>

Never the less this is weird if it is true.

Ok I’m one of those that didn’t read the whole article or all the posts before posting my comments/feeling about this whole thing.

If one is going to post a response to an article
that will be respected, others on the thread have
a right to presume that person actually READ the
article, capeche ?

We DON’T click ‘replies’ to get the gist of a
piece .. we READ the piece.

Actually, I had heard about this incident several years ago from a Bush family friend. The friend indicated that this is just one of MANY reasons that GWB developed such an extraordinarily close relationship with his mother. [’HW’ was on the road (for business) A LOT when ‘W’ was growing up. For this reason, ‘W’ was the one that Bar leaned on during times of challenge and stress, including the miscarriage that occured when ‘W’ was 16 or 17 years old.]

Yes ... also, being his Mom’s little guardian
angel when his sister, Robin, died. They were
all devastated, as we’d all be. His life lessons
of loss, heartbreak and the sanctity of life
started at such a young age, God bless him.

My wife can tell the same story. Her mom miscarried at home, and they had to keep it in a jar over the weekend until they could get her into seeing the doctor on Monday. This was per the Dr’s instructions. My wife recalls seeing it in a jar under the sink.

Seems a little extreme today, and this wasn’t in ancient times: early 1960’s.

I cannot imagine the pain and psychological damage this inflicted on my MIL.

But why keep the baby in a jar, why not give it a proper burial?

That was my first thought, too.

She didn’t keep it in a jar. She just took it to the hospital in a jar.

There was no photography in the 18th century. If there were, we’d have photographs of George Washington, Marie Antoinette, etc.

DrDeb I haven’t seen you here for quite the while.

Reading the entire article makes me glad that W’s mother showed him his sibling.

Perhaps we all need to let our teen age children know what the BABY really is.

The younger generation is more pro life because they have seen the sonograms, they know what their siblings look like in the uterus.

After all these pictures are on the fridge.

Wow. Zombies is an appropriate word, STARWISE.

Or perhaps deliberately stupid. It's amazing how hard up some so called conservatives are to attack President Bush (or his mother).

Makes you feel kind of sorry for them.

But not quite.

As to the article........this must have been deeply traumatic for a young George W. And one of the reasons he is pro-life to the core.

(Thanks for the ping).

What’s more disturbing: this or your apparent inability to read the article and understand what really took place.

See my #10 and my #12.

Sorry, honey, I read it and it is still disturbing. Get a grip. Not everyone is going to agree with you, Sparky.
