The American Geophysical Union plans to announce Monday that 700 researchers have agreed to speak out on the issue. The effort is a pushback against congressional conservatives who have vowed to kill regulations on greenhouse gas emissions.
"This group feels strongly that science and politics can't be divorced and that we need to take bold measures to not only communicate science but also to aggressively engage the denialists and politicians who attack climate science and its scientists," said Scott Mandia, professor of physical sciences at Suffolk County Community College in New York.

A debate is a good thing. But before we invest another cent on this scam, or even rehashing the fraud perpetrated for the last 20 years, we need to know who these people are. If Maurice Strong is even remotely associated with beating this dead horse, I say that these 700 "researchers" should be ignored.
And their grants and funding be withdrawn. Enough is enough.
Names, affiliation, sources of funding, accomplishments in the field and a complete summary of their work for review by the serious and accepted scientists in the field.
Lindzen comes to mind.
Looks like the serious scientists need to report for duty again.
And lets have a debate; what science knows, what science does not and can not know, and for heavens' sake relegate those damned computer models to the back room where they belong.
Garbage in garbage out still rules in the realm of the parasites and the frauds.
Even supposing we can actually learn how to "control" climate change - pure hubris, to be sure - who gets to decide where it goes & when?? What a world-wide bureaucrat's dream...What an Orwellian nightmare for lovers of liberty!!!
Lysenkoism lives on.
These folks aren't scientists, they only play them... wherever they play them.
Science can never be prescriptive. All it can do is raise issues for the world's attention. It is politics and economics that then decide what to do about them. People who argue that the science says we must do something are being disingenuous about their true motives. If those people are also scientists, then they are abusing science. This is a tremendously important point. --- Iain Murray, National Review, December 21, 2004
The gravy train is derailed. Imagine that!
"CCXs panicked original investors bailed out this spring, unloading the dog and its across-the-pond cousin, the European Climate Exchange (ECX), for $600 million to the New York Stock Exchange-traded Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) an electronic futures and derivatives platform based in Atlanta and London. (Luckier than the CCX, the ECX continues to exist thanks to the mandatory carbon caps of the Kyoto Protocol.)
"The ECX may soon follow the CCX into oblivion, however the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012. No new international treaty is anywhere in sight."
Guess they ran out of other people’s money.
Cut the quacks off of their dope.
In other words, Wile E. Coyote (Super Genius) orders another useless gadget from ACME.
Another *expensive* useless gadget from Acme...

Yep, the grantees wanting to preserve what they are getting from the grantors.
