...one law enforcement officer, speaking on condition that his name not be used, told The Brownsville Herald that the two-day toll easily passed 100...
A Texas businesswoman, who was in Matamoros running errands, reported being in the downtown area when a shootout erupted just a block away. The woman reported hearing machine guns and over 20 seconds of continuous grenade explosions... Another woman said that while she was walking near the Pumarejo General Hospital in Matamoros, she saw a truck with armed gunmen collide with an SUV carrying a family. The woman stated that the impact rolled the SUV on its side. She said at least two gunmen got out of their vehicle and fired on the SUV as well as on a military helicopter that was chasing them. The woman said she was also fired upon as she ran for cover but was not struck.
You would think we were in Iraq or in a movie, she said. Everyone was scared, gunfire everywhere, panic and chaos.
A man who was in the downtown area reported seeing a group of armed men take over a pecera a type of bus and order the driver to park it in a way that would block the street. As soon as the driver stopped the vehicle, the man heard a single shot. After the gunmen left, the man took a closer look and saw that the driver had been shot in the head.

The Mexican military cannot do the job. Isn’t this the same gang that controls the land 40-miles outside Phoenix, AZ?

Forget Obamo and the active military. Perry needs to get off his hind quarters and get the TX Guard down there now. UT/Brownsville is part of TX and it’s time WE started protecting ours vs waiting for the Feds to do it.
oh wait, we can't spare any - 700 agents are with 0bama to protect his royal heinous, while he is on vacation at taxpayer expense. Sorry you're on your own.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the international incident started when the bullets started flying north.
You forgot to say, “These are family oriented, Christian people who desrve the right to come to America for jobs.”
Get it right next time!
...and in India!
You are correct. I live 2 blocks from the border and I feel that I live deep into the interior of Mexico!
Mexico is lost. How can a nation fight an insurgency when 15-20 million of its citizens who recognized there was something wrong with their nation took the easy way out and fled to the north?
You’re quite right old boy! What WAS I thinking!?! Yes the ‘’Family oriented Christian people who deserve the right to come to America for jobs’’. Jobs we lazy, indolent racist Americans are just too lazy to do.
We’re done. A nation that won’t protect it’s own borders is a traitor to it’s people.
The trouble is Mexico was never a ‘’nation’’. It was a Spanish-controlled racist kleptocracy that never abided by the rule of law. There is Holy Hell coming from Mexico. When it finally does collapse the flood of people out of that pest-hole will be unlike anything we’ve seen so far.
Is anyone surprised?
Hispanics voted 2 to 1 for leftist Jerry Brown in California, in support of Meg Whitman's illegal alien maid.
Were done. A nation that wont protect its own borders is a traitor to its people.
We're seeing it.
Sorry, not buying it. Mexico is in the shape it’s in because of the people who live there. I don’t want a damn thing from Mexico and I don’t support the use of illegal alien labor.
We can thank GWB for “professionalizing” the Mexican military. IMO, with the possible exception of Colombia, his Latin American policy was, on the whole, little short of disastrous.
And, of course, you have Soros who wants this poison legalized. Scum Zealot.
We, as a country, have been far too tolerant of Mexico for far too long.
We need to do a Dresden on all their border cities. We need a large buffer zone to protect ourselves.
Soros wants what pot legalized? Well, if you don’t want that, then bring back alcohol prohibition and throw tabacco in there too. Sorry Drug use isn’t the problem, that is to say stripped of all emotion. Drugs are ultimately a problem of money. Get control of the money and you get control of the problem. The drug dealers know this. That’s what they’re trying to do. The law plays ‘’catch up’’ while the government tries to regulate morality. Almost ninety years of drug prohibition may be achieving the results desired by some in the law enforcement community and citizens who feel is worth fighting because of ‘’the children’’. I’m far more skeptical . Drugs are still available as ever and since drug dealers don’t ask for ID I doubt this ‘war’’ will ever end. Seems to more like a siege. And the siege is begining crack the walls.
