The terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001, gave his administration a clear goal and him the resolve to find out who was responsible and "kick their ass," former President George W. Bush writes in his new book.
In "Decision Points," Bush describes his reaction when his then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice informed him of the crash of a third airplane into the Pentagon.
"I sat back in my seat and absorbed her words. My thoughts clarified: The first plane could have been an accident. The second was definitely an attack. The third was a declaration of war," the former president writes in his 481-page book, which goes on sale Tuesday.
"My blood was boiling. We were going to find out who did this, and kick their ass," Bush writes.
"In a single morning, the purpose of my presidency had grown clear: to protect our people and defend our freedom that had come under attack."

But even if I have my empathy, I would also like to believe I would not hesitate to blow away someone taking the life of innocent people, like that asshole Fort Hood shooter. I also wouldn't waste much time a trial for such people.
(LOL, But I also must admit that I have seen people who I think should get an ass kicking on simple principle. Thankfully, my powers are limited! )
And don’t forget, the Dems were the enemy as well. My gut tells me that they put the screws to him using the war as leverage to get their way on a number of issues.
You knew it was sarcasm yet chose to ignore that fact and attack the writer for the chance to berate him? The writer was only projecting what the socialists would say; not his own words. That's very crude of you.
One of the interesting things about articles about George W. Bush and 9/11 is how it reveals how many incredible armchair generals we have. Folks who, I feel pretty safe guessing have never been president of a country of any size, know just what should have been done, and just know it would have been done without leading to more deaths of Americans and millions of dead innocents.
Interesting how we rightly despise the 9/11 killers for murdering 3000 innocent people, but we bash Bush for not incinerating millions of innocent people in retaliation. Good Christians all, nuking away—ah, but it’s DIFFERENT when WE kill innocents!
If only we had these folks running the war, instead of sitting at home behind their computers!
LOL! :) You pretty much nailed the mentality.
I believe you or someone else has posted those two photos together before. They say so much, and I thank you for this.
We’re different from them. Sorry, Obama and you libs, we just are: We’re better.
Thanks Darkwolf. Yes, I’ve posted these multiple times. Please click on the link at #70 for the story of the Ashley Faulkner picture.
Kindly pay attention to the entire thread. I missed it initially; did not understand this person’s reference and did later apologize. Otherwise, yes, it would have been crude.
Man, get back on your Qualudes.
He may be Texan, but he is not Christ like perfect in his conservative views and is therefore a worthless scumbag. He can not be tolerated if he exceeds the narrow barely visible focus of real conservatives./s
There is NO ONE who is “Christ-like perfect in his conservative views.” GWB was never a Conservative anyway — that didn’t make him a “worthless scumbag.” While we certainly don’t need to support anymore candidates like him for President in the future, I can’t say, looking back, that I’d have been just as happy with that “worthless scumbag” Al Gore as President — can you?!

Reminds me of the conversation I had with a friend the other night who said Bush is not a true Christian because he curses.
Agree 1000%
One lesson from all this is that, as best possible, America should keep her wars short, because we could elect a fricking democrat next time.
For crying out loud!...It was SARCASM and so noted as such. Good God.
Love it!!
History will judge W very favorably on a couple of key items, among them the robust and susccessful defense of his countrymen and homeland.
Sometimes "nuance" comes in as a secondary concern when there is a crisis. The President is both Diplomat and Military Leader -wearing both hats at the same time is not always "easy". I think he did quite well identifying the enemy and attacking them rather than pursuing nuance and negotiation with those on the periphery that were of no immediate consequence... I do not feel pandering was even remotely an objective...
Could anyone even imagine Obama coming through in a moment like that? Or even dragging his teleprompter up a pile of rubble?
